Sala Done Khone Hotel

The room on the river might look a bit rusty on the outside, but it’s amazing once inside. The double bed it very comfy, the little niche with extra bed is very cute, the view amazing, the terrace so nice with the chairs and the hammock and the Mekong right in front of you. The family and the dogs are very kind and the food is really good and not expensive at all. Breakfast selection is amazing. Despite going around the islands with bike and scooter we didn’t find a better restaurant and came here to eat every day. The pool behind the bungalows is past its time, but we were offered to use a big one across the street. But honestly we didn’t need a pool at all.

The little carpets on the floor… They are dangerously slippery on the wooden floor! We put all of them aside.

Great property with wonderful service. We stayed in the French house and the room was very comfortable, though the WiFi didn’t reach the bedroom.

The shower in the Ban Lao room (where we initially stayed) was just a trickle and was cold.

This is not luxury — and that’s exactly the point. Staying in a floating studio on the Mekong, sitting on your deck with your feet in the water and a cold Beerlao in hand, is one of those rare travel experiences you don’t forget. The rooms are basic but comfortable, with good air conditioning and everything you need. The island itself is flat and perfect for cycling — we hired bikes and spent hours just exploring at our own pace.

It was great for our purpose and met our expectations. We didn't use the pools - two small pools were available - it was too hot - temperatures around 40 °C+ the three days we were there.

Ruhig gelegen, ideal zum Entspannen.Das Hotel hat floating bungalows, ein Bungalow mit kleiner Terrasse auf einem Floß im Mekong. Es ist wunderschön, im Liegestuhl auf der Terrasse zu sitzen und den Sonnenuntergang über dem Mekong zu genießen. Das Zimmer ist geräumig und sauber, das Bett ist gut. Das Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit. Es gibt Fahrräder zu mieten. Es gibt Bustickets zu kaufen, incl. Boottransfer nach Nakasang, Abholung vom Hotel..
