Tambo del Solar

This was hands down my best stay in Peru so far. The location is amazing, just two blocks away from Plaza de Armas, the hotel is very clean and comfortable, the little street in front of it is protected by a gate and feels so safe. The rooms with balconies have amazing views of the volcano el Misti. The showers are good, the water is hot, you get fresh towels and soap. The staff was very nice and would try to accommodate my requests and they even let me leave my backpack there when I left for two days to Colca Canyon. When I came back I stayed in the room with the kitchen and like some people pointed out there is no plates or cutlery or dishes but if you ask the staff they will provide what you need. I assume people were stealing them before so they keep them in a separate room. The kitchen has a little fridge and a microwave but no hot plate (that did not bother me). I ended up extending for quite a few nights and that was also not an issue to figure out. I am really so incredibly grateful that I stayed here. I felt so safe and comfortable.

I honestly can’t think of anything. Maybe some of the staff can’t speak English but even that works perfectly well if you know a little spanish or have google translate.

Very handy location 5-10 mins walk downhill from the main square. Friendly, helpful staff. Quiet location in a gated cul-de-sac. Room was generally quiet (I was upgraded to the top-floor.) Room was spacious in that it had a kitchenette and breakfast table. Bedroom and bathroom were a bit tighter. Everything was clean and tidy. Room made up daily. Good hot water after waiting a few minutes. Wifi OK when the Internet was working. Usual breakfast but extras available. View of Misti from the bedroom and balcony. Big plazaVea supermarket around the corner. I'd stay again in an upper floor room.

Everything was pretty good. I booked a single room but they moved me upstairs because I was staying longer. I think the single room is behind reception and may not be the greatest. While the location and room were very quiet by inner city standards, there was some noise at 5am when the neighbours went to work and every couple of days around 8am when the garbage truck came with music playing. Nothing major. The Internet was variable but I think the problem was with the city network, not the internal wifi. There were no utensils etc in the kitchenette (but I didn't book that room so can't really complain). Still a very good option.

Great location. Comfortable, clean room with lovely shower. Staff were friendly and helpful with storing our bags for the day before our night bus.

It was quite noisy as the bathroom set up was a bit strange with an open ceiling. Our room was very small so was a bit of a pain with our big bags etc. but can’t complain for the price :)

Perfect position and it had all needed to stay a few days. The street is very safe because it is closed and only resident can access. Breakfast also was amazing! Bread, eggs, orange juice, butter and jam

All the staff does not speak English at all and they are not proactive in helping for the stay. Example: the hotel is in a street that in the night is closed with a key. We had a guided tour at 4am, the staff saw us going outside but they didn’t advised us that the street was closed, so we needed to go back to the hotel to ask for the key, in a rush. A final note for future customers: the property does not provide an hairdryer. I didn’t noticed on Booking.
