What a lovely country hotel

The staff was amazing - friendly and accommodating. The manager was on hand all the time, helping with parking, greeting guets and even helping with dinner service. The area was dealing with severe storms and other hotels had referred extra guests here due to a total power outage in thr next town. Staff and management remained friendly, calm and helpful, while dealing with extra guests, numerous roof leaks and a power failure. The decor was fabulous and it is wonderful that a historic building was saved and given a new lease on life.

As with all historic buildings, there were many roof leaks and musty smells in the rooms. But we were told that contractors would be on site on a Sunday to fix leaks!

Quite quirky….liked the colours and decor. Dinner was ok but overpriced. Chicken kebab should be priced for 1 only. But it was quiet.

My big problem is that when I booked the site told me there was only 1 room left - very expensive at R1,850. When we got there our room had been allocated…. Later on we found out there were 5 rooms not occupied. Very upset with booking dot com with regard to this. I should get a refund of the difference between R1,150 and what I paid.
