property was a few mins walk away from the blue mosque and Hagia Sophia. staff and breakfast was great!

Rooms are quite small, not much to do at the property during days you don’t want to go out / rainy days.

Really friendly, warm welcoming front desk staff. Helpful and polite. Clean bathrooms and bedroom.

Unfortunately, 3 items were stolen from my suitcase..I arrived back in UK on 20th March. Unpacked on 21st March and noticed. I did not lock this particular suitcase as I did shopping I was adding to this suitcase. I lost £60 pounds worth of items. Very disappointed that this happened, given the fact we really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is located in the historical center of the city. Rooms are clean, the breakfast was tasty. The staff was very friendly.

Tashkonak is walking distance to many sights in the old town. There are shops and restaurants nearby. The real positive of the hotel is the excellent staff who went above and beyond to help us with several issues.

The location, if you're a walker, is excellent. You can easily walk to many of the sightseeing sites and down to the ferries, Spice Market and Grand Bazaar. The younger staff members were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was OK and the building was quaint.

After prepaying for four nights we stayed for four nights then changed hotels. The room, which wasn't cheap, was close to the foyer, separated by two doors, generally clean but in need of some maintenance. The bathroom door, which was overdue for some attention didn't close properly. The toilet roll holder fell off when touched and the shower enclosure floor and walls had some significant mould. When I showed the Manager, who could best be described as 'surly', he didn''t seem overly concerned. The level of noise at night from guests was unacceptable. The reception desk is located only metres away from the seating area for guests. We had little solid sleep over those nights. I'm a heavy sleeper, even in a bed shorter than me at 90cms. But still the noise woke me up and continued until I asked for some quietness. One night I was so drowsy I grazed my elbow while rolling over in bed which left some blood on a sheet. On checking out the manager, sensing we were not happy, told me the sheet cost the equivalent of $21 AUD to wash. I had an option of paying that fee or not giving the hotel a bad review. I have never in many years of travelling given such a scathing review but it is necessary in this case. Look for other accommodation options.

- very polite and friendly staff - all the old city sightseeings are nearby - the variety of things you can eat at breakfast and breakfast itself

- just next to the hotel was mosque so sometimes I was waking up early morning due the prayers - shower cabin had broken doors
