Location was excellent. All in all it was good.
On this visit I thought the breakfast was not as good as it usually is.

Title: Very unwelcoming check‑in experience despite full payment
We arrived at Carrigaline Court Hotel at around 1 pm. We knew the official check‑in time was 4 pm (which is standard for most hotels), but the way we were treated at reception was disappointing.
When I told the receptionist I had a booking, she didn’t even ask for my name or any details. Her first sentence was simply: “Our check‑in time is 4 pm, so see you at 4.” In all my stays at many different hotels, I’ve never been greeted like that. She didn’t offer any information about the hotel or what we could do while we waited.
She did agree to store our luggage and mentioned we could do some “unfinished work” if needed, but I had to ask specifically whether we could use the leisure centre facilities. Only then did she say yes. She didn’t mention the restaurant or any other options at all.
I understand that rooms may not be ready before 4 pm, but a normal, polite approach would be: “Your room isn’t ready yet, but as soon as it is we’ll let you know. In the meantime, you’re welcome to use the leisure centre, restaurant, etc.” That’s what reception teams usually do.
My son and I went to the gym, while my wife waited on the couch in front of reception until 3:50 pm. No one from reception bothered to tell her that the room was ready or even that it would be ready soon. When we returned at 3:55 pm and asked the same lady if the room was ready, she whispered something to another receptionist, then finally asked for my surname and booking details. Only after that did she say, “Yes, your room is ready.”
Overall, it felt like we were unwanted guests, even though we had paid the full amount. The lady on duty (I didn’t catch her name) was particularly rude and unwelcoming. The hotel itself may be fine, but this check‑in experience really let it down.
