Private Balcony with outstanding views, great staff

Classic old Hotel, must have been amazing in it's day...now a bit Tired, so to say. Long uphill walk from cog railway station.

Incredible view from the balcony, we spent hours there in the evening staring at the peaks. It's a tough walk uphill to the hotel from the Wengen train station, but we got used to it. Also the coop is right next to the station. The hotel location was ideal for us as we had planned to hike up to Kleine Scheidegg, and we could just start from the hotel. The staff let us leave the bags after check-out and we picked it up later.

nothing, except for the price factor

The staff were very kind and helpful. They always responded quickly to our questions and made us feel very welcome. The view from the hotel is beautiful, and we really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere in Wengen.

Overall the room was large and reasonably clean. The location was good, about 10 mins walk from Wengen station.

There was almost never anyone at reception so if there is something urgent there will not be anyone to help you. The staff are contactable via phone, and they are polite and friendly, but since they are not physically at the location there are limited things they can do. The hotel itself was very old and there are only the minimum facilities and not super clean and put together, eg room service did not refill toilet paper, stains on the wall and carpet, sticky floor in bathroom, the window in the bathroom was very run down and you could feel cold wind coming in while showering. There was bad soundproofing - we could hear people walking around and dog barking at night.
