Day Waterfront Hotel

Room was very big, nice balcony, comfortable bed, hosts Yao and Kai had excellent English. Terrific view of the river, and lots of local eateries and massage places nearby. It's budget accommodation so it's not ultra fancy but I was comfortable there. I'd stay there again.

There were only two coat hangers, luckily I always travel with a couple spares, so I could hang up all my clothes. The driveway down from the main road is quite steep. I don't recall there being a sign at the roadside to show you "you are there" (but my tuktuk driver knew exactly where it was).

Yao greeted us at Day Waterfront Hotel like we were family. After two days travelling on the slow boat from Luang Prabang, going through border control, we were pretty tired! Yao suggested where we could go for a meal and a walk to stretch our legs. The Room was huge, with a great balcony overlooking the Mekong River to Laos. We felt so welcome, we wish we could have stayed longer. We will try and get back to see you next year, when the music festival is on!! Thank you for the breakfast.

This little place has one of the most amazing views. I couldn’t stop spending time on the little balcony, it was such a lovely spot to sit, relax, and take in the scenery. The riverside promenade just across the street is also beautiful and perfect for a walk or simply enjoying the view. The location is excellent, with great cafés, restaurants, and ATMs all within walking distance. Make sure you have some cash with you :) The owners are absolutely wonderful, so kind, welcoming, and helpful. The lady who owns the place even offers a small breakfast every morning, which is a lovely touch. I honestly didn’t want to leave. One thing to keep in mind is that there isn’t an elevator, so you’ll need to carry your own luggage up to the second floor. It wasn’t a problem for me, but it’s worth knowing if you have heavy bags.

The only thing to keep in mind is that, because the property is surrounded by nature and close to the river, there are quite a few mosquitoes and other insects, especially in the evening. This isn’t an issue with the guesthouse itself, it was clean and well maintained, but it’s worth bringing insect repellent so you’re prepared.
