Fantastic location and the building is old and characterful. Tastefully equipped and comfortable. The host was charming and easy to contact.

The climb up the forty odd stairs to the third level is a bit of a work-out and the aircon struggling to keep the mezzanine cool were negatives . I banged my head on the low ceiling beams in the mezzanine several times. I'm 5'11". It was also a problem for me that the toilet was downstairs on an open staircase with no handrail but the worst thing was that the shower drain stank and made me gag.

The location was perfect, unbelievably perfect, right in the middle of town and with easy access to likes of Nice, Marseille and the surrounding sights. Furthermore, the host was friendly and helpful and the apartment was full of character.

Parking is a little painful and expensive but there are good train links to the airports/cities and the town is served by little hopper buses if you need one. If you are staying in town, everything is within walking distance.

Fantastic location, quiet, and clean - all that is needed to be comfortable. Also a great space to relax if the busyness of the streets is too much!

Hot days while I was there and the aircon was difficult to feel upstairs. Might be worth having a pedestal fan to circulate the air.

We loved the comfort of the apartment and the space available. View over outdoor patio area and neighbouring rooftops was nice. Plenty of light, very clean, nice decor, comfortable bed, and location was excellent. It was inside the historic centre amongst all the restaurants, cases, shops etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The host was also very easy to reach and accommodating.

The only negatives I found were that the upper floor ceiling was very low. I am quite tall at 187cm (6ft 2in) and had to stoop as my head hit the ceiling. Bathroom was upstairs and toilet downstairs so call of nature in the night meant navigating stairs in the dark.

Comfortable, stylish apartment in possibly the best location in Aix. The owner was very communicative and keys can be picked up from a mailbox right next to the apartment, so you can check in yourself. I loved my stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again. It has a fully equipped kitchen and the owner is generous enough to provide olive oil, salt, pepper and other spices as well. Fast internet, perfect for a work-from-home stay.

Attention could be paid to certain things like ensuring a good amount of hangers and bath towels for longer stays, but compared to how wonderful the stay was, these are minor points.

There was a slight problem with the aircon but as it was only hot on the first day this wasn't an issue.

Lovely, well-appointed studio apartment right in the centre of Aix-en-Provence. Bed is on a mezzanine, above a living/dining area with a well-equipped kitchenette. Lots of attention to detail and quirky design. Owner friendly and welcoming (he rang when we were approaching the station to arrange for key handover), and didn't mind us arriving early. Lots of restaurants nearby, and a short walk to daily food market. Aix has excellent public transport and it was easy to escape the city by bus to walk the Montagne Ste-Victoire.

The stairs are a little alarming until you get used to them, but definitely not to be attempted in the dark!
