The decor, the setting, the lovely, well equipped bedrooms

This is not a major complaint. Some of the Staff seemed somewhat undertrained. We ordered some additional items for our dinner but they never appeared. The service was slow in the bar and the employee on reception took a long time to access details on the PC and the card reader.

Excellent service from front of house to the waiting on staff . A superb and plentiful vegan breakfast.

I love the Midland it is an iconic bit of history in a beautiful location. I would so like it to be a success and guests to rate it highly. On the plus side it was good to have a large glass bottle of water in the room. Plenty of nice toiletries in the bathroom though they didn't smell of very much. Bed was very comfy. Blackout curtains worked really well. I was on the roadside of the hotel but still had a good view of the sea to the side looking down the prom. The room was very quiet and didn't hear any road noise from the prom overnight.

This is an expensive hotel but does not sing of exceptional service or provide the level of comfort you would want for the price. Staff could be more attentive. Once you got their attention they were very friendly and helpful but I must have waited a minute before reception noticed I was there on arrival. The reception is now the end of the bar and not really the welcoming area you would expect in a class hotel and very noisy from the bar area. The downstairs area, where a lot of people meet is not cosy, the chairs are not plush and welcoming and in fact very drafty when the main doors open. I didn't like the overhead shower, no option of a moveable shower head, no good if you don't want to get your hair wet. The lighting at the dressing table could be brighter.

Weird wall that needed moving to locate the toilet in the bathroom. Clever idea but completely impractical. Very badly stained carpet in the bedroom. The continental breakfast! No coffee in the pots and a table in the middle of the room that had an air con unit dripping onto the floor and the croissants/yoghurts etc. It had obviously been like that for a while because the floor was badly marked.
