The room was clean and comfortable. I think we were the only guests. Very quiet and peaceful. The beach was very close and they had a rooftop pool.

The breakfast consisted of three toasted dinner rolls, butter and jam, juice, and coffee or milk. Eggs were extra. Only breakfast was available, no lunch or dinner. The nearest restaurants were a mile away.

Overall the experience was good and the price was good.

Ants in the room, not being able to get the jets to go in the swimming pool and high prices for some things such as water and a surcharge for using a credit card. The breakfast was very minimal. The service was also good but not great. They didn't go out of their way for me. This is also the most isolated spot so you need to walk a ways of you want to try another restaurant, shop, use the chapel etc.

Beautiful hotel, lovely room and easygoing restaurant, nice spot in front of the beach.

Punta Sal itself was completely dead, and the hotel isn’t where google maps says it is, so we walked for ages once our taxi dropped us off.

What is the value of a life at the Hotel Smiling Crab, Tumbes, Punta Sal, Peru? If you want to put your life into danger and be told that it was your fault for touching a shower, which gave me a full electric shock, while being wet, and not being asked how you are or have any concern about my health after the event, then this is the hotel for you. On Thursday 25th July 2019 at approximately 7.30 am I went for a shower, no hot water was coming from the shower unit, I noticed that the tap from the hot water tank had been turned off, trying to get hot water by turning on the tap, I received a full electric shock which was made worse by having wet hands, luckily I was not in the shower as this would have surely ended in my death. After recovering somewhat I went to the management and told them what had just occurred. The response was “I am sorry this has never happened before and that someone would be sent to fix it”. I clearly showed that my hand and arm were still trembling from the incident. Our plans continued for that day and on our return the shower had not been fixed. Some time later two men and the management team came to our room and inspected the shower. Clearly the manager was surprised during the inspection as she jumped when another electric spark was created. At this point I was told we could use the shower, only cold water and it would be repaired tomorrow. Throughout the whole experience no one has asked me, how I was, as I suffered a great deal of pain in my left hand and bicep.The next day again no one asked about my health, with the pain continuing in my left hand and arm (I had difficulties raising my left arm, over my shoulder). We also found out during the night that the entire water system was turned off, during this night my daughter was ill and visited the toilet several times and with no water this was very inconvenient for her. n our final night Friday/ Saturday morning.
