Pension Ohno

The view is amazing, with a full waterfront view. It overlooks Lake Toya, and we can enjoy tea or coffee looking at the lake from our rooms. Location is pretty good, in a quiet side of the town and next to the convenience store. The lady owner was really, really friendly and nice. Clean and somewhat comfortable. You can see the Toya fireworks from the carpark opposite the road. Note that the front desk lady will tell you it starts at 9pm -- be sure to do your own research, because when we were there, it started 8.45pm and ended by 9.03pm.

For the same price I could've gotten a hotel stay, or a mountain view stay with outdoor onsen. I chose this looking forward to home cooked food and a homely feel, but did not receive much of it. First, I felt that the description was a little misleading. It states "beef stew served for dinner", which misled me into thinking that dinner was included by default. Next, you can hear people watching TV or talking in the next room, or when people are walking along the hallway. It's pretty loud. The beds are fine, not the most comfortable but passable. For what it's worth, my dad developed back pain after sleeping on their beds (the only time in 2 weeks in Hokkaido), but it may not necessarily be due to the beds. With no breakfast or dinner included, and with only passable rooms and beds, the price really does not justify.

L'hotel est tenu par une famille. Tout le monde est très aimable et serviable. La vue est belle, peut importe la chambre. Il faut absolument prendre la demi-pension. Nous avons mangé comme des rois petit déjeuner et dîner, avec 9 petits plats par repas. Nous avons pu goûter beaucoup de spécialités de la région et produits locaux, qu'on aurait difficulement pu goûter dans un restaurant "classique". Les fruits venaient du jardin et tout était délicieux. L'hôtel est à 20min de marche du centre de toyako onsen. Un bus passe à peu près toutes les heures dans les deux sens (vers toyako onsen et les sentiers du geoparc, ou vers le mont Usu). L'onsen est très agréable, on nous fourni un yukata pour y aller. Il y a du café et thé à volonté.

Het uitzicht vanuit de slaapkamer op het meer, wel een weg tussen het hotel en het meer. Voldoende parkeerplaatsen. Koffie/thee apparaat op de gang.

Geen lift, oudbollig interieur. Onsen waren niet aangenaam op temperatuur, alleen Japans ontbijt. Voor het bedrag wat je betaalt voor een overnachting verwacht je wat meer luxe.
