OK, so I am going to give you an honest review and description of this place. TO BEGIN: You must first decide if this hotel will be a good place for you. If only plan on sleeping in the room after being out in Rio day and night, only to wake up early in the morning to do that again, OK, maybe this place is for you. If so, please read on....... What to expect here: A very cheap, but small room with a fan and a TV that you will most likely not watch at all. Cute cats at the reception. A shared bathroom that can get busy in the early hours of the AM when many people want to use it. In the summer months (like at this moment in January), it can get a little hot in the room. I do not mind a fan room with a window that does not provide any comfort, but maybe other travellers might find this problematic. They can decide. There is an optional breakfast that can be purchased, but your best bet is to walk down the stairs, turn right, and go to the café/resto on the corner, or find another nearby (there are many). There is no fridge in the room. The overall ranking of this place shows the wifi not to be good, and that is 100% false. The wifi works quite well. Some reviewers made negative comments about the neighbourhood, all of which are laughable. There are no "drug dealers" or "prostitutes" in the area. The area has some of Rio's homeless mulling about, but none of them will ever bother you anyways, so pay no attention to them. The area is fine for Rio Centro standards. If you are worried, use an Uber or taxi. This hotel is safe, no problems. If you want a cheap place to stay, right in the centre near the Saara market (which I highly recommend in the day) and you will not be spending time in the room aside from sleeping, and you do not mind a fan, this is a fine place to stay. It is basically a hostel with a private room and no AC.

The lighting in the hallways could be better, but that is a minor detail. HOT TIP FOR EVERYONE: Make sure to pay a tiny bit more for the "superior" room, because those are the only ones that are street facing where some air can flow into the room. The "standard" rooms have no exterior windows, aside from into the hall.
