The room was quiet and the bed was reasonably comfortable. It was also reasonably spacious. There was a selection of coffee and tea and the towels were big and fluffy.

There was evidence of black mould in the bathroom and I don't think the floor had been cleaned. When I put the bath mat on the floor for a shower, there were stains that looked like blood. I get that this is an old building, but the obvious lean of the room was a little disconcerting: I could have rolled a ball from one end to the other. It appears that this establishment is more interested in serving meals and drinks and the hotel rooms are an aside. When we arrived, the bartender casually handed us the keys and that was it. The cost of parking overnight is extortionate, but that is not the fault of the hotel, but the council. I suppose that is what you have to expect in a town that attracts so many tourists...
