Sur les hauteurs de Sils Maria se dresse la silhouette d'une immense bâtisse, avec tourelle d'angle, balcons et terrasses. C'est le Waldhaus, inauguré en 1908, et resté aux mains de la famille Giger-Kienberger-Dietrich depuis cinq générations. On sent la tradition familiale dans ce palace aux allures délicieusement surannées. Malgré tout le confort moderne qu'il offre sans lésiner. L'accueil est personnalisé - par la Direction elle-même - accompagné d'une visite guidée des lieux jusqu'à votre chambre, pendant que voituriers et bagagistes se chargent de tout le reste. Salons, bar, fumoir, bibliothèque, spa, jardins, terrasses, trois ou quatre restaurants à votre guise, concert tous les soirs, activités diverses s'offrent à vous, généralement sans supplément. Un personnel stylé, habillé d'élégance, anticipe vos moindres désirs. La vraie classe.

On pourrait ne changer les serviettes de bain qu'un peu moins de deux fois par jour. Et, malgré les trois menus - combinables - proposés en demi-pension, oser une cuisine un peu plus audacieuse.

The Waldhaus stands alone, both metaphorically and literally. The Grande Dame of Sils-Maria is impeccable in its ability to be seen as a reminder of the world of great hotels and yet remain a place of great warmth and friendly service. Everyone, and everything, is superb.

If you are recharging a device during the day, make sure you advise the supportive service staff not to turn the room power off. completely.

Everything at the Waldhaus was absolute perfection. We stayed here for four nights for our honeymoon and were so overwhelmed with the beauty of the property and the surrounding landscape, the friendliness and care of the staff, and the old world charm of this historic hotel. From the moment we arrived at the Waldhaus, we were greeted warmly by the staff and owners of the property. Our room was so well appointed and had the most amazing view of Lake Sils. The turn down service every evening made returning to our room after dinner like returning home. The food is delicious (you have to do the half board option!!) and the nightly menus kept things interesting and fresh. The spa was beyond anything we had ever enjoyed before, with a steam room, sauna, soaking pools, and relaxation rooms. We went on a hike through the Fex Valley and were in awe of everything we saw. It was like being transported back in time with all the modern conveniences and amenities included. Though I'm happy to be home, I will always miss the Waldhaus.

There is nothing that could have been improved on. The Waldhaus was absolutely perfect in every way. The only thing I didn't like was leaving the property!
