Matilda Boutique Hotel & Spa

Location was great, easy to walk around old quarter.staff were very helpful and friendly. They allowed us to leave our suitcases when we went up to ha long bay at no extra cost

Beds were a little hard however it seems all the places we have stayed at so far is a common reoccurrence

Lovely room with balcony, very spacious

Dining area is very small on ground floor

Matilda Boutique Hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Hanoi's Old Quarter — everything is walkable, the streets are vibrant, and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd want from a first Hanoi experience. Our room was neat, clean, and well-maintained with a lovely balcony — a great spot to sit with a morning coffee and watch the city come alive. Exactly what we needed after a long flight. But the real highlight of our stay was the staff. Genuinely warm, helpful, and attentive — the kind of hospitality that elevates a good hotel into a memorable one. A special mention for Mr. Phu, who truly went above and beyond. When we approached him for help with our day tours, he didn't just book them — he took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for, arranged a brilliant Lan Ha Bay cruise and a Ninh Binh full day tour that were both perfectly executed. Beyond the tours, his local knowledge was invaluable — restaurant recommendations, what to see, where to go, hidden gems around the Old Quarter. He gave us the kind of tips you'd only get from someone who genuinely loves the city.

The breakfast is decent and covers the basics, though we felt the spread could be a little more varied

Good Location.

May get a 3 Star but definitely not a 4 Star. It is a Budget Hotel. Staff did not engage. The room was dusty. Concerns with the bathroom light switch and plug sockets. Switched off the bathroom light which turned off the TV for a few seconds then came back on. Went to use the power sockets near the wardrobe, to boil water in the kettle and looked burnt and unsafe. Shower water was cold. The room we had was dated. Breakfast selection was poor. Had pre booked another night cancelled and booked elsewhere.
