We stayed for a week during the Fringe Festival. The cottage provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay at a good price. It is a good base, both for getting into Edinburgh and for exploring the Fife area. There are some beautiful areas on the costal routes.

Such a great little place to stay within a stones throw of Edinburgh and the Fife coast, but also easily linked to west Scotland if you have a car. Comfy, clean, and homey, Yvonne and Chris have a fab little place here. Thank you so much!

I loved the homely atmosphere with little touches of thoughtfulness everywhere, like the creamy port and the humbugs in the dish on the sideboard.
The place was well setup and very comfortable. Suited us well.

Wonderful comfortable cottage, great views
We have just had an extended stay at the cottage and we couldn't have asked for more from a quaint, character filled, self catering cottage. Yvonne and Chris are beyond hospitable and so friendly - always available but also just let you settle in and get on with your stay. The cottage is warm and cosy, and the kitchen has everything you need. The location is ideal for a rural retreat without being away in the deep countryside, you are very close to all amenities - and the lovely gardens out the back - it's such a delightful suntrap! Easy access parking or an easy walk to Inverkeithing train station (15 ish mins) - a very handy station as all trains go to Edinburgh. And the views are so good - gorgeous farmscapes (you might be lucky to see some deer), the train line in the distance (our young daughter loved watching the trains go by) and all three bridges. We are sad our stay is over and would recommend to all.

Ideal location, perfect hosts.
We soon realized we had found a gem of a holiday base. A warm welcome from Yvonne, a much appreciated welcome basket, tea tray with scones, and a vase of fresh flowers, soon confirmed it.
Also we were pleasantly surprised by how much space we had and how cosy and well equiped it was.
Outdoor covered seating area a bonus, and entrance to the woods from the cottage garden.
A good base for visiting Edinburgh and the beautiful Fife coast.
Bakers, fishmonger and a Co-op in Inverkeithing with supermarkets and good takeaways in Dalgety Bay all about 5 minutes away by car.

The cottage is lovely. Everything we needed was there and for visiting family and friends in the area and going into Edinburgh by train for the Festival the location was ideal. We had a very warm welcome from Yvonne and enjoyed the welcome goodies left in the cottage. We didn't need to use the fire but were very warm in the conservatory after long sunny days out exploring. We would definitely recommend and would love to come again.

A great location
The Cottage was a great place to spend few days. The woodland was an interesting place to wander through and Chris's camping buildings were all intriguing. Inverkeithing station was a short walk which gave easy car free access to Edinburgh and Cramond island is a must if the tide times are favourable.

We were now already for the third time in the cottage and we love it. The house is very tastefully decorated and cozy. A rainy day is not a problem here, because all the rooms are very cozy. Even our teenaged children always come back with love. It's great fun to cook in the perfectly equipped kitchen. And the new extension is fantastic. The location of the house is well suited to explore the surrounding area, such as Edinburgh, Lothian and Fife.Next year at the same time we will be back. Many, many thanks to Dorothy and Chris. They do everything to make their guests feel at home.

My wife and I stayed at this wonderful cottage for our vacation. We enjoyed the quiet and solitude of a country home with a great view of the Forth Bridge. Yvonne was very helpful and understanding when our plane was delayed and our arrival was way past our expected time. We enjoyed the welcome package and the kitchen was well equipped and the living room was very cosy, we felt at home there. We would certainly want to look into staying there when we return to Scotland.

We stayed in the no 2 Dales cottage, it is next door. No 2 is fantastic, nice and very comfortable. The cottage has a spectacular conservatory with way out to a beautiful garden. The kitchen has a lot of electrical appliances and kitchen utensils.
There are many brochures and maps of Scotland. They helped us very much in order to travel and sightseeing. There are many toys, crayons and some films for children.
We had a wonderful week in Scotland. We sure that we are going to go back.
Thank very much Yvonne and Chris.

We stayed in the 'upgrade cottage', no 2 Dales cottages. Yvonne and Chris were very helpful and we appreciated the welcome and the lovely tray of goodies - the bread from the local farm bakery was especially delicious! The cottage is very well equipped and extremely interesting in the way that it has been renovated. Chris is a skilled woodworker and has used reclaimed wood throughout, which is commendable. Chris and Yvonne have worked so hard to maintain and improve the cottages and their woodland campsite in a sustainable way. They obviously love their piece of land! The only thing that we would change is to have more comfortable mattress on the single bed in the small bedroom. The location is really fantastic for exploring Fife, Edinburgh and beyond. We have had a wonderful holiday, thank you very much.

This neat cottage with it's lovely and absolutly complete interior and equipment made our holiday in Scotland a highlight in years.
From the very warm welcome till our leaving with a tear in the eye we had the most wonderful time. The living room is so cosy and perfect to relax after a long day out, the kitchen had every gadget and dish and pot we needed (and even more). The bedrooms with the quality beds were so nice as the bathroom was.
This place is great even without a car. Trains and buses from Inverkeithing (less than a mile to walk) go everywhere. So we had the chance to see not only Edinburgh and Dunfermline but also some terrific parts of the Fife Coastal Path - which we would recommend every visitor.
Thanks Yvonne and Chris and we'll be back somewhen!

We spent wonderful holidays at Chris' an Yvonne's cottage. We felt very comfortable and had a lot of options to spend our days off. We had no car, but is was no problem to see the most of the interesting places at the Kingdom of Fife. Our radius was beween Culross and St. Andrew, going by bus oder walking the Fife-Costal-Path.
The cottage with a fireplace in the livingroom ist very homely, the kitchen is overcomplete with very beautiful dishes. We had wonderful sleep on perfect matresses.
The next Tesco isn't far away and easy to reach by bus or Taxi.
We enjoyed our holidays in scottland very much. Thank your!

Our family of four (2 adults and 2 teenagers) were delighted with our stay at this cottage. We would highly recommend this property for almost any type of vacation, from a romantic getaway to families with any age children looking to spend some quality time together. The cottage was even better than advertised and exceeded our expectations. Yvonne and Chris were extremely gracious and had obviously spent a great deal of effort anticipating their guests needs. There were many thoughtful added touches. The location was great for exploring central and eastern Scotland and was indeed just a short drive into Edinburgh. One nice surprise was that there was a large 24 hour grocery superstore about 10 minutes away. Easy to drop in after a long day of sightseeing. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer to relax and enjoy the cottage with it's library, lovely garden and the adjoining woodland. Alas, perhaps next time.

Very friendly owners. Lots of information including maps in cottage which was helpful in planning our sightseeing.
Modern kitchen with large American fridge and large dishwasher; everything you need to make large or small meals. Fire place in living room was great. Large pretty back garden which we wished we had spent more time in.
Excellent location for either Edinburgh or travel to north to Perth and surrounding countryside. Cottage was clean, was as described, and would recommend to friends

A beautiful warm welcome of a roaring log fire set the tone for our stay. The owners are thoughtful but discrete - leaving everything you may need but not intruding. Our pre-school children were too young to fully apprecciate the woodland behind the cottage, although my son kept looking for Winnie the Pooh and friends to appear! I'm sure it would also make a wonderful adventure playground for older children. The games cupboard proved a godsend when weather kept us inside!
Our visit was primarily to visit relatives so we'd didn't get to test many of the wonderful suggestions for day trips and local sightseeing that were thoughtfully provided in the reading material in the cottage.

Allthough we travelled with a little child (always an unpredictable adventure!) we felt very comfortable because we found everything we need in this charming ,well equiped cottage. Every family member (at age from 18 month up to 52 years old) felt like home and we were very satisfied with the choose of this property. Nice atmosphere, decorated with much loving care and a good base for many day-trips....

We have just spent 5 wonderful days in the upgraded cottage. It is a beautiful cosy traditional cottage with lots of wonderful old features and a delightful wooden conservatory, my husband had a great time lighting the log burning fire each evening. The cottage has every amenity you can imagine, there is also an excellent selection of books and games and lovely gardens. The owners are very friendly and helpful and are well informed about the local area. The property was very clean and had some lovely touchs like fresh flowers, fruit, wine and a hospitality basket. The cottage backs onto woodland that belongs to the owners and the children had a lot of fun exploring this, definately take your wellies though. This property is a short drive from the centre of Edinburgh, parking was easy but we managed to get lost driving out of Edinburgh every time, the train was much more relaxing and stress free. The Edinburgh Bus Tour was worth doing, this is a hop on hop off bus that takes you around the main tourist sites in the city, the ticket lasts for 24 hours and entitals you to discounts off other attractions. This cottage is a wonderful find, you would be daft to miss it.

Woodland Retreat
This is our second stay at this cottage and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. It's location is ideal for visiting Edinburgh, plus many other locations (this time we visited Edinburgh, Dunfermline, Stirling, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs). But the location of the cottage in an amazing woodland plot is perhaps it's best feature. We have two young sons and they love adventuring around the woodland. There is a brilliant badger hide (although the boys wouldn't sit still long enough to spot anything!) and also a playing field (where we did see a stag on our last visit).
The owners, Yvonne & Chris have made this property extra special with the bespoke wood fittings and they will go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need.
The weather was pretty poor when we visited but we didn't feel that this distracted too much from having fun - although you will need wellies for exploting the woodland!
The cottage was warm enough but there are two gorgeous woodburning fires in the lounge and in the wooden conservatory and we lit the woodburner in the lounge 'for effect'!
We only stayed 5 days on this occasion but it wasn't long enough. Because of the property and the location (in relation to touring) two weeks would be about right and I think we'll try for that next visit as there are still so many places we didn't get to see.

Rustic, cosy and well equipped.
Myself, husband and two young daughters have just returned from our first visit to this wonderful ' home from home'. When we were looking for a place to stay near Edinburgh, we were all drawn to the description and facilities on offer here and can say we weren't disappointed. The back garden is a safe & secure environment for children, with lots of things supplied to keep adults and children entertained, this is before we ventured into the wildlife paradise!!!
Going for a walk, exploring was thoroughly enjoyed by us all, (even though it was very muddy - wellies to the rescue), we were ultimately looking for the sports area but rambled slowly and the girls were so excited when we found Hansel & Gretel's cottage (the Badger Hide) and were most amused at the outside loo's.
The cottage itself has everything you could ever need and the flag system is a great idea for attracting Chris/Yvonne's attention, although we didn't have to use it.
We hope to return, when hopefully the weather is not so tempremental and look forward to be given another friendly welcome.
