The Shorea

The overall concept of the room was amazing. It was an airconditioned one bedroom unit (Bedonia) with a sprawling wooden deck across a private swimming pool (partly made private by a see through barrier from the public part of the pool). This room was located at The Shorea Estate, another section compared to The Shorea, which is supposed to be more exclusive and airconditioned. Initially I had booked at The Shorea which was a non-airconditioned room. I was always feeling uncertain about this as I have traveled several times to the hilly region of Seramban and I know it is quite hot there. So, it was a welcome suggestion that the resort got in touch with me to upgrade me to this airconditioned option. The total cost was RM 884 for 1 night + another RM 190 for the 4 course dinner. I think that's quite a steep price to pay for options in this region. But, it was worth it. The deck area is equipped with 2 swimming reclining chairs, 1 dining table, a refrigerator, tea/coffee station and water station. The swimming pool is sparkling clean and well maintained. The pool and deck area faces the mountain side with lovely natural trees and foliage which made a picture perfect view. Must mention the shower. It was a proper big outdoor geyser unit which gave lovely hot water. It was wonderful. More than the room was the weather in the evening. It was breezy and cool without rain and we could spend considerable time at the deck. It was a wonderful evening. The next day breakfast - nasi lemak - was very good. Though we do not like nasi lemak particularly, we still enjoyed the breakfast. The breakfast was served exactly at the time we had requested for without us prompting which was amazing. So, was the dinner. So, staff services were very nice. One of the staff members also suggested that we could order beer through Grab (food delivery app). We thought maybe they will not deliver in such a remote area but they did. And we ended up ordering ice, beer and ice cream.

The WiFi just didn't work in spite of a transmitting unit present at the dinning area. This they should definitely fix considering the stiff charges. The dinner did not deliver. We had the sweet sour seabass option. It was just not worth the price. But the presentation was nice as all meals are served at your room which was very convenient. We had a lamp lit dinner on the provided dining table in the deck area which was quite special Watch out for wild animals, insects, geckos. We say a wild cat and a big wild squirrel. Then we had to leave the deck area late at night because of 2 bats doing the rounds at very fast speed. So, you should be tolerant to expected wild life. We thought it just adds to the overall concept of being away from civilization and in to nature with all the modern amenities

The ambient is good.

No Wi-Fi provided as a standard service provided. It need extra charge for that. Besides that, the pool no so clean
