Galu Ecolodge - Diani Beach

the staff were very nice and welcoming. i arrived earlier than check in time and also did not inform the hotel ahead of time. however, they prioritised my check in and the lovely lady on duty kept checking in with the cleaning staff to make sure that the room was nice. the food was amazing and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. the room was very neat, large enough space and great terrace. the beach was also really clean. the shower had great water pressure and also got hot fast. breakfast was yummy as well.

the room i was in did not have an ensuite bathroom. it was outside the bedroom which made it a bit of a hassle to access. there also wasn't a mirror in the room as well. a let down too.

The washroom and bathroom in the room was not well ventilated despite opened windows.

A very nice and cozy place with fantastic staff and food! The location is perfect – right on Diani beachfront, very green and quiet, with no loud music. The food is very good, and the staff at Reception and in the restaurant are very nice and friendly. It’s also a pet-friendly hotel, which we really appreciated. I’ve already recommended this place to our friends and colleagues, especially pet owners, and we will definitely come back!

We were missing a kettle. We stayed in a Deluxe Bungalow with Garden View, which was very nice, but there was construction near our bungalow, so it was a bit noisy. We tried to spend most of our time on the beach. The sink in the bathroom needs some attention, as it took quite a while for the water to drain.

Der Gastgeber Evan war sehr freundlich und bemüht. Man muss sich jedoch im Klaren darüber sein, dass die Unterkunft mitten im Nirgendwo liegt. Der Pluspunkt ist der Blick auf den Kilimandscharo, wenn das Wetter stimmt. Es gibt eine kleine Karte mit Angeboten für das Frühstück und Abendessen. Wenn man Strom oder Warmwasser zum Duschen benötigt, muss es vorher angesagt werden. Die Unterkunft an sich ist sehr dunkel und warm. Wenn dann noch Feuer gemacht wird für das warme Wasser, zieht der ganze Rauch ins Zimmer. Aus der Dusche tröpfeln dann 4 dünne Strahle. Für die Sicherheit sorgt ein Massai in einem kleinen Häuschen am Eingangstor, der einen gern morgens überrascht mit einem freundlichen "Jambo" - also nicht erschrecken.

Die Unterkunft ist schwierig zu finden. Es war sehr dunkel und stickig in den Räumen.
