We just came home after two weeks at Villa Karobel. We had a great stay there and really want to recommend. The house is as shown but what makes it extraordinary you only can find when you stay there. It's amazingly beautiful but Sue and Bozana care for so many details you will rarely find. You'll find a perfect household in any details. Need to repair your sunglasses? You'll find the kit. Need to sew something? The same. This is endless.
But also the warm welcome by Bozana, the great exchange with both of them, also far beyond and not "as usual". So overall, choose Villa Karobel if you want to stay on Hvar.

We had a lovely week in Villa Karobel. The house is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. It is only a short walk from everything you need including stunning beaches with warm crystal clear water. The village of Vrboska is very pretty and has mostly escaped tourist development. It has some very good restaurants and a small supermarket. A brilliant place to spend a holiday!

This was our 5th visit staying at Sue’s property and once again very enjoyable. The property is very well appointed with all the facilities we needed. Sue has added extra capabilities and is keeping the property up to date with new windows, bug screens etc
Vrboska is lovely with a number of very good restaurants and the friendliness of the locals and staff in the shops and restaurants is a joy.
Already thinking of our next visit.

We travelled to HVAR for 1 week on 14/8/2022 and stayed in Vila Karobel. Honestly, we couldn't imagine a better place to stay at Vrbroska. A very charming and spacious Vila where we always found a place to relax in the shadow on 1 of the terraces with a large original bbq outside. Ideally located, 2 minutes walking distance from the heart of the village with many shops, bars and restaurants serving authentic Croatian food. Especially we really enjoyed the food in restaurant Bonaca, with lovely owners. Different beaches are available at walking distance with the possibility to rent kayaks, paddle boards, wind surfing
We rented some bikes in the village and visited Jelsa and Stari Grad and discovered some other beaches in the neighbourhood.
In advance of the trip, the owner of the house, Sue, provided us very practical information so we reserved our boat trips to and from HVAR upfront. Once arrived on the island we have been warmly welcomed by Bozana, the custodian of the house, who provided us very interesting information. Basically we could ask anything to Bozana and she would always help to get the information. When we arrived, the fridge was lovely filled with some local food and the house was very clean. I would definitely come back to Vila Karobel in the future!

We had a fantastic time at Villa Karobel. A great location in Vrbroska with loads to explore nearby. Susan and Bozana were very helpful before and during the stay. The house is very comfortable and homely. It is well kitted out and we appreciated having flippers and beach mats etc there to borrow. We also loved being able to bbq in the evenings. The only thing we missed was a dishwasher!
Thank you!

Vrboska is a great place to base yourself for a week. We found the Villa to be very comfortable (lovely beds) and also nice and cool with the help of the air conditioners. The house is well-equipped too. The house is better located than the map suggests, being just north of the estuary and only a few minutes walk into the heart of this charming town. Bozana lives just around the corner and she was a great help - just get her number and you can message her via WhatsApp. The owner, Sue, was extremely helpful in the run up to our stay.
Recommended: hire some bikes. The routes to Jelsa on the south side and Soline on the north side are both perfect for cycling and the scenery is breath-taking, particularly early morning. We also cycled to Stari Grad early one morning in the hope of getting some fresh fish but the fish market wasn't open. This was still a worthwhile trip though, taking in the tomato and pepper crops and even a small airfield.
Jesla is best for fish and there is a primary fish market but also a secondary one where the guy will clean and gut your fish for you.
Go to Hvar town, where you will be able to take a trip to the Pakleni Islands. If you have time, walk around the town. The view from the Fort is spectacular. Bozana will arrange a taxi for you (300HRK) or there is a bus for about HRK45 each.
Go to the Bay of Olives, which is a fraction under 10 minutes to walk. The water there is gorgeous for swimming.
Finally, try the Ajvar - this is a bell pepper paste that goes very well with pretty much everything.
We loved Hvar and will go back one day. In hindsight we got lucky - Vrboska is a perfect place to base yourself. It doesn't quite have the architectural beauty of Jelsa or Hvar but it doesn't feel too toursity either and it has a real charm to it. Getting there is easy enough although the ferry journey does make the journey that little bit longer. The ferry from Split takes two hours (to either Stari Grad or Hvar - SG is better as it's closer to Vrboska). We had to get the catamaran on the way back which goes from Hvar and costs more (HRK130 rather than HRK55) and only takes just over an hour.

Very easy to book, and Sue always responded quickly.
Bozana was extremely helpful when we arrived and gave us recommendations of bike rentals and restaurants.
The area is beautiful and peaceful. Would definitely stay here again.

Great house, very comfortable for our family
Great location, great communication from owner and housekeeper Bozana (thankyou). Very comfortable, well equipped, excellent A/C. All in a lovely town with superb restaurants, make sure you hire a boat and bicycles.
Thanks for a lovely stay👌

We had a great time in this house and on the island of HVAR. The best way to discover all parts of the island is to rent some bikes and go through the hills, this will gives you very beautiful views on the see. The see is really at a walking distance from the home; equipment of the house is perfect and you'll find everything you need at Vrobska!

What a wonderful place in Vrboska!!
Beautiful house, literally 5 minutes walk from the small town of Vrboska. Known as “Little Venice”, it has many little shops and lovely restaurants. We walked down each morning to the bakery for fresh bread and pastries. Sue’s house itself is a real home from home, with literally everything you could need. They’ve thought of everything!! The air conditioning is most welcome after a long day of exploring the area too. There are some lovely beaches close by and a visit to Jelsa is a must. A lovely lady called Bozana is on hand to meet you when you first arrive and is available should you need anything during your stay. She and her husband were so helpful and made lots of recommendations to us.
We hired a boat from Darina in Vrboska and had a great time going all round the coast.
We had a fabulous stay at Vila Karobel and can’t wait to return. Thank you Susan and Bozana for such a memorable holiday!

We (family with two girls 13,17) very much enjoyed our holidays at Vila Karobel. Vrboska is our happy place and sitting under the carob tree in the garden is the most relaxing you can imagine. We will definitely return a third time.

Lovely start to Croatia trip
We stayed in Sue’s lovely house for a week as part of a 2 week trip to Croatia. We (2 adults, a 7-yr old and a 9-yr old) had a lovely time. Tranquil spot, easy walk into Vrboska, well-equipped. Felt like a real home from home. The area itself is wonderful with Vrboska, Stari Grad and Jelsa all on your doorstep. Wonderful! Thanks again Sue and to Bozana for looking after us while we were there.

What a find ! We felt we had the hit the jackpot when we arrived at this property. It’s simply stunning . Just as described in the property details .
Spotlessly clean with everything you need to help you ease into a perfect holiday . Sue had thought of everything .
A perfectly practical house too with just the right amount of space for shade or heat !! The hammock under the Carob tree was very popular with all three of us.
We LOVED staying here .
Vbroska is a dream . A beautifully unspoilt Little Venice in a fabulously warm community which we were lucky to be part of for 7 days . We found it hard to leave .
The Bay of Olives was the most wonderful place to swim and so close to the house and the little coves near Soline so tempting to dip into . An early get up one morning meant a jog to Jelsa and back was possible . Cycle hire was easy too thanks to Sue’s neighbours Bozana and Dario. We also spent a day out at sea visiting nearby islands and the Blue Cave which Bozana organised! We all agreed that this house rental was up there as one of our best holiday stays ever . Would highly recommend to others and would go back in a heartbeat !
Thanks Sue for letting us share your lovely home . Thanks Bozana for all your help.
If you are looking for a perfect place to stay in a laid back quiet place with excellent swimming, cycling , easy excellent restaurants , bars and simply a place to unwind then this house is for you .
Don’t hesitate to book. It’s a rare find .

A piece of heaven
Our family loved everything about this property and town. Sue has thought of everything with this house and even some added extras which are most welcome. The house is clean and spacious, with great views. The village is a stroll from the house, where you will find great restaurants and a beautiful marina to spend your evenings.
We hired bicycles for our stay and it was a great decision. The island is very cycle friendly and we loved finding new coves to stop and have a swim, and cycling to nearby towns. The waters around this island are some of the best I’ve seen worldwide.
All in all, a perfect stay, and Sue or our neighbour were always available if we needed any help or questions answered.

Relaxing break in an excellent villa
A real home from home holiday in this lovely, clean, well equipped villa with everything we needed, from the well equipped kitchen to the padded beach mats. These are examples of how Sue has thought about providing a lot of the things that you might need during your stay.
Vrboska is a lovely, friendly place to be based with restaurants, cafes and a couple of grocery shops. The town and sea are within a few minutes walk of the villa, stretching the legs a bit more or hiring a bike enabled us to explore some other areas. Starigrad and Jelsa are within a cycle ride and both are pretty towns worth a visit. If you need bike hire, taxis etc. Bozana and Dario can put you in contact with the right people and save any hunting around.
Owner Sue was on hand to answer any questions before and during our break, answering promptly and informatively. This coupled with the extensive information pack of brochures, leaflets, maps along with the tips and hints that Sue also provides and with Bozana and Dario just round the corner to do the ferry pick up, drop off and answer any local queries made a stress free break. The addition, since our last visit, of WiFi and Internet access meant we could also do research on local attractions etc. ourselves.
All in all, with the support from Sue, Bozana and Dario, the very well equipped, clean villa and the beauty of the location this has been a very relaxing and enjoyable week.

Great villa in an idyllic location.
A very special place from the moment of arrival in Stari Grad with the owners personal friend collecting us and showing us around. The villa is perfectly positioned in Vrboska and is spacious, clean and has everything that you require for a great holiday. A small and friendly village where you get to know the bike/ boat rental people, local fruit and veg stall man, waiters and shop staff. Great harbour area with some lovely cruisers and yachts moored balanced with the historic buildings and great locals.
Would not hesitate to recommend this villa!

Modern, clean, of good size and well equipped. In one word : Beautiful
Our family enjoyed an unforgettable and utterly blissful two weeks in the village of Vrboska on the island of Hvar, and this was in large part thanks to owner Sue and island neighbours Dario and Bozana. Sue provides the most helpful information pack prior to holiday commencement that we have ever come across, and both Sue and Bozana were there for us when our main luggage was delayed during a connecting flight transfer to the island. Taxis were organised for us, liaising between Split airport and the luggage courier was carried out for us - you couldn't be in better hands should something go topsy-turvy! Indeed, our luggage arrived the very next day, and then we enjoyed a truly amazing time on the island of Hvar.
Sue's house (Vila Karobel) is by far and away one of the nicest properties we've stayed in when visiting Croatia. It's modern, clean, of good size and well equipped. Afternoons dozing in the hammock underneath the carob tree within the grounds of the house are simply divine.
The village of Vrboska is beautiful, laid back, and very welcoming.
If you're looking for a beach bay to yourself, give the Bay of Olives a miss and be a little bit more adventurous. Try a walk from the house to the Bay of Palinica (some great views from the top of the hill on the way), or to the Bay of Rapa. Some absolutely stunning snorkelling in crystal clear waters can be had here on the northern side of the island.
All the restaurants within Vrboska are brilliant, but it's easy to recommend our favourite. For wonderful views of the harbour, and prices that don't break the bank, head on over to Gardelin Luka for a lovely meal. Should you find yourself in Stari Grad, seek out Restaurant Antik in the narrow back streets.
Do grab a bus to Hvar Town and visit the Spanjola fortress, and do grab a bus to Stari Grad and visit Petar Hektorovic's amazing fortified residence (Tvrdalj). Both great afternoons out!
Again, if you're feeling adventurous and want one of the most spectacular lunches you've ever had in your life, then rent a boat from Dario's cousin and put-put-put your way round the north side of the island (making a stop at the bay in Otok Zecevo!) to near Madri Dolac. The views and grilled food here are simply out of this world. Dario's cousin will liaise with the owner on your behalf, as it's lunch by appointment only. Do it, you won't regret it!
Best ice-cream on the island? Probably the Eis Caffe in Jelsa near the harbour. Yum!

Lovely house in a lovely location.
This was a great house, with everything we needed. Vbroska is lovely, as are Soline Beach and, especially Bay of Olives and Hvar as a whole. Hvar Islsnd was just gearing up for summer, so it was pretty quiet when we arrived, which suited us perfectly, but still had plenty going on. We could tell it would be really busy in a few weeks time. The kids loved swimming and the inflatable at Soline Beach, and the ice creams. I loved our trip to the Pakleni Islands, but I'd recommend taking a picnic, as the cafes and restaurants are very expensive there. The house and garden were really nice, especially the hammock! I can't fault it at all. Bozana and Dario were helpful too. My son has declared it the best holiday ever!

Lovely south facing house in peaceful location.
ThIs well equipped villa is in a peaceful area of the beautiful village of Vbroska. Only five minutes walk away you will find the pretty harbour which is surrounded by a good selection of restaurants, bars and cafes. Here you can hire bikes, a car or a boat to explore the stunning coastline with its crystal clear waters. There is also a regular bus service to nearby towns and villages if you want to travel further afield.

Beautiful garden, well appointed, tastefully decorated, great location.
Wonderful villa and great customer service both from Sue pre-arrival and Bozana during our stay. Sue sends out a thoughtful info pack and helps arrange a meet and great with Bozana who will meet guests either at the ferry port in Stari Grad/ Hvar or in Vrboska to personally direct them to the villa. The villa is a great size for a family of four and we loved the large, tidy, enclosed garden for our toddler to run around in. The villa is extremely well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday and visits to the beach.
It's in a great location, very quiet but only a few minutes stroll to the centre.
Vrboska is a charming, family friendly village with character and great bars and restaurants.
Book it you will not be disappointed.

A fabulous place to relax
The villa is set in a private garden with olive trees, lavender and a wonderful big carob tree which gives shade from the hot sun. We spent lots of time on the terrace under this tree either relaxing in the hammock, cooking on the traditional barbeque or eating the excellent foods available locally. The house itself is beautifully kitted out with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
For us the best thing was the swimming in the clear, turquoise sea. Great for snorkelling! There are quiet coves to walk to from the house or bigger, family beaches an easy cycle ride away. We would advise hiring bikes locally and exploring along the coastal paths. They are quite magical.
All in all it was a great holiday and both Sue,before we went, and her friends locally in Vrboska, made our stay even better than we imagined it could be. I can only say, 'Go and stay there, see for yourself'.

Could not have been better!
We had the most wonderful holiday - the villa and its location in the picturesque village of Vrboska could not be improved upon!
Right from the time of our booking, the owners were really helpful and full of useful information, so that by the time we arrived on the island, we felt we were familiar with it already. We were met from the ferry by Dario and Bozana, who had done everything to make our arrival hassle-free and welcoming, and who were always on hand if we needed them for help or information about local events, which we really appreciated, as it helped us to feel part of the life of the village
As other reviewers have said, Vrboska is just right as a destination if you want a truly relaxed holiday: it has lovely restaurants and bars, but is not overly touristy, has really good places to swim, and it's easy to get around by bus and especially by bike if you want to see the countryside, which we loved.
The villa itself is excellent, with two good bedrooms, a comfortable living room and a very well equipped kitchen - it was great to be able to cook 'properly' if we wanted to! The men in our party really got into cooking on the wood fired barbecue too, and we had some memorable meals under the shade of the carob tree....
Overall, we all agreed that our holiday in Vrboska had been the most relaxing we had had in years, and we would definitely return to this lovely island and villa again

Lovely villa in idealic harbour village
Everything connected with our booking went perfectly with excellent pre-information and details on traveling there from the owner. The property is situated in the most beautiful village of Vrboska which has just the right amount of restaurants and bars without becoming too touristy. The villa itself is well kitted out and in excellent order with everything you need for a comfortable holiday - the air conditioning was especially appreciated in the hot weather. The reason we have given it 4* is because there is no pool and the views from the terrace are limited neither of which bothered us as we spent most of the time exploring the fabulous sea shore bathing areas and nearby villages and countryside. Didn't hire a car as most people bike everywhere which is great - no hire car hassles! Would we go again - definitely - just the villa and village to get away from the busy south Med and still have plenty to do and see in stunning surroundings.

Blissful break in lovely villa
We arrived on the Island of Hvar by sea plane from Split – a fantastic experience and well worth the cost. Sue’s friends were waiting on the quayside and drove us the 10 mins to the house, a really nice welcome.
Vila Karobel is a well designed holiday home, relaxed and homely and with everything we needed for a comfortable holiday. Plus the garden was lovely, making it different from a lot of the other rental properties around - I'd really recommend this villa partly on this basis, it's really special to have a garden.
The fact that the house does not have wifi had been a concern... but in fact it was a BIG plus! No emails, no social media – just a proper family holiday (wifi is available in the cafes 5 mins away if you're in need).
Vrboska is really beautiful and has such a relaxed atmosphere. Some of the beaches, like our favourite, the Bay of Olives, were tranquil; while others like Soline had lots of activities – aqua park, cafes, canoe hire etc. There was something for everyone so all the family (four adults and one little one) was happy. We hope to go again!

Lovely villa in a quiet position
A beautiful, well-equipped villa in a quiet part of the village, but within easy walking distance of the shops, restaurants, etc, I spent a very relaxing two weeks here with my teenage sons in August. We loved sauntering up to the Bay of Olives to swim and cooking on the huge outdoor grill – one of my sons admirably mastered this by the end of the holiday! Lovely garden and outdoor space – I loved sitting under the Carob tree to read while my sons sunbathed on the top terrace. As the photos show, Vrboska is very picturesque, and, we noticed in high season, quieter than other places on the island. We enjoyed cycling to Jelsa and the around the Peninsula, and one day went out with Dario in his boat to other bays and the 'rabbit' island, what beautiful water to swim in. I loved Hvar town and walking up to the fortress – magnificent and dramatic views – especially as a storm was coming in which hit us later as we sat in a bar! As well as the lovely ferry right out to Hvar from Split, we loved the seaplane back to Split airport – so convenient! All in all, thoroughly recommended, and, as this was my first visit to Croatia, I can't wait to return.

An unspoilt delight
This house - and its location - was just perfect four our family of four. Conveniently located to the village (close enough to walk to the numerous bars and restaurants, far enough to not be bothered by activity) and with a multitude of swimming places within easy reach. The house is spotless and well-equipped - lots of extra bedding and towels, with a beautiful garden and feels like a home from home. Vrboska is a lovely village, unspoilt but with ample facilities and the island itself looks like the cover of a travel magazine. We especially enjoyed hiring a boat and finding our own little coves, but there are lots of other activities available. The owner Sue was very helpful beforehand and provided a lot of really useful information and tips, and having Dario and Bozana on hand locally was just great. Definitely recommended.
