The Red House

Our host and his wife were very friendly and kind. On realising my wife is a vegetarian, they cooked us a lovely vegetarian meal at short notice. We are very grateful. The location is ideal to explore Seoraksan national park. The host was knowledgeable about the hikes in the park and provided us with maps and good advice

The staff are so friendly and joyful. The room is clean, spacious and the bed is very comfy! Breakfast is good and varies a little bit each day. The location is very tranquil and quiet. There is a helpful convenience store nearby and a short walk to some restaurants. The sky walk nearby is lovely in the evening. I would 100% stay here again. Very good value for money. Obviously do not expect 5 star decor. It is supposed to be homely.

Good location for park, but you still have to get the bus there, or its a 25 minute walk.

No idea why it got such good ratings, it's tired, dated, the hall and lounge area smell, the air-conditioning was very noisy, it doesn't have 'mountain views' the window is behind a cupboard thing and the windows frosted so you can't see out anyway. The bed is hard with a weird bottom sheet, and all the towels are tiny. I really thought about abandoning my second night there, but after a tough walk in the park, I didn't have the energy to move. Breakfast very ordinary. The area it is located is like an abandoned town, I felt very uncomfortable there. The owners try, but they speak no english so everything is done using google translate.
