Maison des Quatre Saisons

Everything about Maison des Quatre Saisons was just wonderful. Delphine is a charming and truly dedicated hostess, and the facilities are everything that should be expected of a French country house - a relaxing garden and swimming pool (very much appreciated during the recent heat wave!), comfortable rooms with insect screens so that even on a warm night we were comfortable with a cool breeze, a self-catered, home-made dinner that persuaded us to dine in to fully enjoy our surroundings, and possibly the best breakfast we've ever been served in a B&B. Delphine has a refined eye for detail, takes obvious pride in her delightful home, and went out of her way to ensure we fully enjoyed every part of our stay. And when I realised I had left some clothing behind she quickly found it and had it parcelled up for my collection a few days later! Don't expect a "five-star resort", but if you are seeking a charming, homely, comfortable, peaceful country escape (surrounded by the vines of Entre-deux-Mers), then Maison des Quatre Saisons should be on your list.

There was nothing we didn't like about Maison des Quatre Saisons, and the only things that could in theory be improved upon are things that can't in practice be changed in an old house and without a huge investment. With a blank slate and a healthy budget, you might design the layout somewhat differently, you might have more self-catering facilities and air conditioning and a full-time gardener to keep everything just so, but then you might (likely) also lose much of the charm of this place, and it doesn't pretend to be "perfect" in these ways. So, really, I have no criticism.

Das Maison des quatre saisons ist ein wunderbares B&B das für uns perfekt war. Die Zimmer sind großzügig und angenehm temperiert, es gibt wunderschöne Aussenanlagen, unzählige schattige Terrassen und Sitzgelegenheiten unter uralten Bäumen. Der Pool ist wunderbar erfrischend und gut zum Schwimmen geeignet. Zu jeder Zeit steht eine große Auswahl an Snacks, kalten und warmen Speisen und Getränken zur Verfügung. Delphine ist sehr hilfsbereit und immer Ansprechbar. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt an einem Ort der wie gemacht war um in der Hitzewelle die richtige Abkühlung zu finden.

We had a lovely stay. The bedrooms are extremely comfortable, and ours featured a beautiful Juliet balcony overlooking the surrounding vineyards, which made for a stunning view. The breakfast was exceptional and easily one of the best I’ve had at a hotel of this size. The fresh fruit and pastries were particularly outstanding – a definite 10/10. The setting is peaceful and picturesque, with the property looking directly over the vineyards, adding to the overall charm. I would highly recommend staying here and would happily return. Furthermore, the near by town is worth a visit, medieval properties to look at and historic town walls.

Delphine went above and beyond to ensure we had the best stay possible - she was there to help us with anything we needed and always with a smile. Amazing does not begin to describe her home-cooked breakfasts which were full of variety and made with the best quality ingredients and skill. The house itself is beautiful, it has been furnished and decorated amazingly, and feels welcoming and cosy. The surroundings are is also gorgeous which is just as well, considering the beautifully kept garden with a lot of room for activities and space to relax.
