The entire building was spotless, inside and out: newly decorated/refurbished and recently given a thorough clean. The terrace is huge and has both shade and sunshine throughout daylight hours. Nighttime was lovely too, especially when the stars were out. Being a penthouse, most noise from the street can't be heard. We arrived quite late in the evening and were delighted to discover that the beach and restaurants were closer to the apartment than we had originally thought (about 2 or 3 minutes on foot). Two enormous pizzas later, we were treated to a beautiful sunset on the beach before sauntering back to the flat for a very comfortable night's sleep. This apartment is absolutely ideal for a couple who wants a long weekend away. Any longer and you're going to need a kitchen, which this place doesn't offer. No meals are provided, but there is plenty of help-yourself coffee and tea, as well as a fridge and breakfast bar to sit at. There is a door-to-door bus service from the train station to the flat (number 10) but we got into a taxi that fortunately was right there waiting for us! It's a pretty easy walk too (about 25 minutes, if you know the way). Although we could barely speak a word of each other's languages, the host's friendly demeanour meant we felt very welcomed. It's amazing what you can understand with body language and situation alone!

We were delayed by 4 hours due to an incident on the railway, so I had to call ahead (I couldn't connect to the internet to leave a message for the host). Unfortunately, when I called the host's telephone number, there was a multiple choice message in Polish (all I could understand was "If you want this, press 1, if you want that, press 2, etc). However, I called Booking.com customer services and they were able to get a Polish speaker to call on our behalf. The host graciously let us arrive later than the usual cut-off hour of 8pm with no fuss. It would be good if the host could provide a reply service in more than one language (I speak a few, just not much Polish... yet!) None of this spoilt our trip - to be honest, I had to wrack my brains for something I didn't like about our stay!
