Excellent location, very friendly staff, great cooked breakfast, historic building; my turret room had a wonderful water view
Because it’s a listed building, it’s difficult for the owners to make improvements (red tape). And like on most of the island, the wifi comes and goes due to the weather (high winds).

The breakfast was excellent and the staff couldn't have done more. The manager and dining staff were friendly and helpful. We had brief conversations with bar staff and they also were so helpful. The location was perfect, right in the middle of the town and close to the bus stop and ferry to Bressay.
The room and bathroom were clean and warm. We were able to controol the temperature to our own preference.
A lift!! I recommend guests to request a lower floor if stairs are difficult. However, as it was Shetland Wool Week, the hotel was full.

The location was excellent! Right in the center of town. Easy walking distance to everything, and a two minute walk to the bus station.
Bed was comfortable and room had a kettle, coffee, and tea.
Long breakfast hours meant I could sleep in and still get a good meal to start the day .
My room (323) looked over the water, and I appreciated that the window actually opened.
Staff were helpful and kind.
It would be nice to have a welcome sign in the ground floor area, and a chair or two. I had to wait to check in after arriving on the early morning ferry, and there was nowhere in the hotel to do so.
Background music in the pub and breakfast room would be welcome.

Brilliant location, pleasant helpful staff, views of the harbour.
In a poor state of repair, aged and soiled carpets, defective shower only delivered cold water, broken glass in skylights (dangerous!), peeling wallpaper and blown damp plaster.
