Plaza Hotel Catania

It’s a lovely hotel with amazing, friendly and professional staff. Location is wonderful just outside Catania central and beachfront with beautiful sea views. I loved the rooftop restaurant - what a lovely way to start the day with breakfast there and that gorgeous view of the sea! The dinner there was wonderful too, great quality and value.

The room was spacious, in the good location, very well equipped. You can reach restaurants, grocery shop in several minutes by foot, loved that the hotel has the partnership with beach clubs. We got a discount! Breakfast stay the same all stay, but are tasty.

The smell in the corridor was like in a nursing home... Would recommend put there a home fragrance or something, to make smell better.

Very clean and welcoming front desk. Good breakfast options. Location is ok. It looks toward the sea if you are on that side of the hotel.

It’s noisy if you are in a room on the top floor, because there is a rooftop restaurant and bar above you. The top floor room I was in, below the rooftop restaurant and bar, was super noisy late into the night and from early in the morning as they were setting up for breakfast. The worst noise was the scraping sound of dragging chairs and tables across the tiled floor. This was unpleasant, very loud and woke you up from the time that the team were on breakfast set up early in the morning, and late into the night. Even when you were awake, the scraping noise meant you could never relax in the room. The single room I had was beautifully clean but very small. With no outdoor space, the room felt closed in and it wasn’t possible to escape the constant chair scraping across the tiled floor noise on the ceiling. That noise didn’t make for a great stay. I’ve never known it in another hotel like this. A friend who paid the same as I did was given a bigger room with a balcony on a lower (much quieter) floor. They were happy with their room. I overpaid for my experience, and just can’t recommend this hotel as it was a real disappointment.
