Character Pub atmosphere, with clean and comfy room/beds

Booked and paid for in advance thru Booking.com I was forced to fill in a manual form with my credit card details ( including 3 digit security code ) at the counter in the bar where other people could easily have seen what I was writing, had I not been careful and security conscious. The reason given was that à free car park pass provided by the hotel, if not returned after vacating the hotel, would incur a £750.00 charge (YES £750.00 Sterling) which I think is an outrageous amount ! I challenged and questioned this but to no avail and was forced to sign my agreement to this charge if I did not return the car park pass. To ensure I had proof of returning the car park pass I took photographs, 2 of which are below.

Such a cute little place. The room was fine for what we needed, we just wanted a one night stay. The room was spotless, with coffee making facilities and shower in the room. The fridge on the landing for milk and extra coffee bags/hot chocolate was brilliant! The bed was comfy just a little small for us, we booked very last minute though so would next time get a larger room and bigger bed. It was comfortable for a one night stay though and the little biscuits were a welcome treat to have with a brew. It’s a lovely little place and the breakfast the morning after was fabulous. My husband asked for a hot chocolate with his breakfast and although they don’t usually do them they made one up for him and he was really touched by that, he doesn’t drink tea or coffee.

We booked a small room so the bed felt a little small than what we usually get, but again was a very last minute booking to join some friends for the night. Absolutely would book back in again and choose a more spacious room, but the room was great for what we needed. And had all the bits you would expect.

The staff were lovely even making Myself a lemon Chello spritz, with help from My husband, then they started to do a few for people at the Bar, had a meal at night which was really nice fit us in at the last minute, the room was nice and very clean.

There weren't any dressing gowns.

Breakfast fine.

No prices displayed on drinks menu/ wine list. Final bill not available to view to check but dispatched on line after departure. Not made clear at time of booking that £70 dinner allowance was only valid for direct bookings to inn & not when booked with agency
