This ryokan was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. The location is perfect—close to everything while still feeling peaceful and authentic. The entire property was exceptionally clean, beautifully maintained, and filled with the charm and warmth you hope to experience when staying at a traditional Japanese ryokan. Everything felt thoughtful and cared for, from the atmosphere to the small details that made our stay incredibly comfortable. It was the perfect balance of traditional Japanese character and modern comfort. We genuinely loved coming back here at the end of each day. An amazing stay from beginning to end. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, authentic, and conveniently located place to stay in Japan. 10/10!

Location and staff

Beautiful traditional inn of the finest quality.

A bit of street noise from the bars but they provide earplugs :)

Awesome location, Lovely hosts, traditional vibe but with modern touches.

Probably a little expensive and no food options available during our stay which is a bit of a downer if you’re looking for a traditional ryokan stay/experience. Everything else was perfect. 🤩

This is a truly beautiful and authentic experience in Gion, Kyoto. The inside has traditional tatami flooring and shoji, all done in the finest quality. We stayed in the traditional family room and there was heaps of space. The location is the best part! Right in the heart of Gion, so close up everything. We wanted a traditional style hotel and this met every expectation.

If I had to be picky - maybe another mirror and vanity space, only because I have two teenage daughters! Otherwise everything is perfect!
