The Strutt Arms Hotel at The Elephant & Peacock

The room, a luxury double, was very large, bright and nicely decorated (the original stained glass windows, a nice feature). The en suite was modern with a walk-in shower. The cooked breakfast was hot and tasty, including buttered toast (no need to queue to toast your own, or struggle with packets of butter!). Similarly, tea and coffee served at the table. Little touches that make all the difference. The staff were all friendly and made you feel welcome. We also enjoyed the excellent Indian cuisine on offer, one evening - we understand the bar is also open for drinks much of the day. Exceeded expectations.

No water in room (other than tap) and the only glasses were the ones in the bathroom. Also, just the mini milk containers (I know few hotels at this price offer fresh milk / fridge, but when they do, it is a treat.). As it's an old building there is no lift so stairs to navigate. Small price to pay, for an otherwise nice place to stay.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast and both were great.

Great place to stay , very clean .

Curry was very good.

Unclean room, traffic noise made it a bad sleep experience and breakfast was poor, cheap ingredients poorly cooked.
