St Benedict - Victorian Bed and Breakfast

This was our first night in England, a single night at the start of a longer journey, and it could scarcely have been a happier introduction. The house is a Victorian villa of real character, not a pastiche. Our room was exceptionally large, immaculately clean, and quite unlike anywhere else we stayed: the period detail felt lived-in and cared for, rather than arranged for show. We did not have long enough for the garden or the common rooms, which is our only regret. Both are beautiful, and deserved a slower morning than our timetable allowed. Breakfast was the best of ten we had in England. That is not a small claim. It was generous, properly done, and served with the sort of attention that makes a meal feel like part of the hospitality rather than an add-on. What we shall remember most is our host. Charming, witty, and genuinely welcoming, he added more to the stay than any room or view could. We very much hope to meet him again. Arrival, parking and the rest of the practicalities were as easy as one could wish. We should gladly return, and would not hesitate to recommend St Benedict to anyone coming into the country by way of Hastings.

Loved the victorian heated toast rack.

The unique atmosphere. Beautiful home

Because of problems I was relocated and although I felt safe it was very awkward using bathroom and facilities
