This house is gorgeous. It's so well designed and we truly could not believe how clean it was. We had SUCH a great time. Also, to know that there is a $225per day pontoon rental close by is huge!

What a great place to relax and enjoy! Since it was a winter stay, we enjoyed the cozy interior of this property. It felt more hotel-like with a very high standard of cleanliness and amenities. From linens to seating, we loved how new and well thought out this house was. From the 7 year old to the 74 year old we all had a great escape on the lake! Would highly recommend the house and owner!

Beautiful, updated, clean home that meet all our needs. The baby gates were a blessing and awesome feature. The view is spectacular. Houghton Lake fishing was scarce but kids enjoyed kayaking. The only negative we found was location on main road and next to public access.
Host, Calvin was very responsive and prompt responding.

The place was nice and accommodating. The location was okay, not really a quite neighborhood as described. There is a small park next to the house that cars/visitors are constantly coming and going. The house is on a busy main road, so the noise from the street activity can be a little annoying. Also, a very busy bar/restaurant complete with live bands playing all night does not make a quiet neighborhood.
We were expecting to be able to jump off the dock into the lake for swimming and such, but not possible. The water was low and the area around the dock is all seaweeds, so no swimming there and the fishing was difficult too. Dang weeds!
All in all we had a wonderful family vacation and the house was comfortable.

Our group of 8 adults and 2 small children spent great time at the house. The hose was very main maintained and had everything for the nice stay. Having the lake docs, fire pit and the grill was really cool.
Calvine was very responsive and helpful.

Our group of 8 girls had a wonderful and relaxing weekend at Calvin and Mary's beautiful lake home. The home was absolutely beautiful. The beds were comfortable. There was ample space for everyone. The view was incredible. And this was the cleanest rental property I have ever stayed at. The home was stocked with everything we needed and more. It was a perfect weekend.

The only two things that didn’t work for my family are the location of the house (on a busy highway) and that the area in front of the house was not suited for swimming. We had four kids on the trip that would’ve loved to go swimming in front of the house, however the amount of weeds was overwhelming and not friendly for swimming. We were also warned by the neighbors of the swimmers itch in the lake and there was a sign at the park next-door to not swim due to high bacteria. Once we were in the house, you could not hear the traffic. However, we like a more tranquil location when staying at the lake. These are just two things that we wished we would have known prior to our stay. Hopefully it can help future renters make a good decision based on their needs.

We loved the fire pit, grill and docks at the house, as well as location next to the park—the kids loved the playground and pavilion. We look forward to returning in the future.

I would like to start off by saying how amazing Calvin and Mary are as hosts! Very easy to get ahold of and quick to respond with any issues or questions. The check in process is flawless and when you walk in the home it’s even more gorgeous than photos can show! The view from the living room, deck, walk out basement living room, and every part of the house is breathtaking! While visiting, We enjoyed fishing, swimming, Kayaking, bonfires, visiting local shops and getting ice cream! This home is set in the most perfect location. The first night, we had a few questions and calvin responded within minutes. I can not say enough great things about this home, and we look forward to renting this beautiful property again next year!

It is about a 25 minute drive from three different cross-country ski areas, a big plus for our group. We plan to return in the future. This Houghton Lake property is stunning. Everything is new, and decorated very tastefully. The views of the lake are spectacular. It was a great place to spend Christmas. I would highly recommend it! We would love to come back in the summer.
