This was our third time staying at the Captain's Quarters. As always, the stay was very enjoyable. Depot Bay is the perfect spot for anyone who enjoys watching ocean waves crash against rocks, or strolling through little coastal shops, or having a home base for exploring. One of our favorite beaches is Fogarty, and it is just a four minute drive from the Captain's Quarters. Upon our arrival, the home was very clean. We always enjoy the multiple bedrooms that allow all of our kids to have a room they enjoy (there is always some negotiating around who gets the upstairs room with the ocean view balcony!). The hot tub is a nice addition. The only minor improvement I can make is that the hot tub lock be made more accessible and easier to use. Other than that, it was great!

Pros: Loved the view and location! Walking distance to shops and ocean. Cons: Unfortunately the kitchen has very little in the way of spices or other items needed for cooking. At least 7 remotes in living room with no labels as to what each one went to. Living room was cold and the fireplace would only bblow warm air for about 10 seconds at a time and then stop. We ended up covering in blankets when in that room.

My husband, 2 kids and i along with our friends that are also a family of 4 had a great time! The bunk room is perfect for kids. Could use some updating and cosmetic attention (broken outlet covers. Bottom of stove coming apart. Lights not working or dead light bulbs not changed.) But all in all a cute little place for a few days.

Convenient location and roomy. Issues with all the carpets having pet stains and the smells that go with that, we went to the store and got carpet cleaner to help. After returning we had to go back to the store for paper towels and toilet paper. Communication with property owner was terrible and not satisfying. BBQ there but not working. Hot tub is next to driveway, next to road.

This place is amazing. Lots of space for everyone. Beautiful views and areas big enough for family to gather together. Close to so much. Watching the waves from the upstairs room was so grounding. Expedia did forget to send check in info and we forgot our switch in the house but besides that it was amazing. The remotes were a little difficult to figure out.

The Captain's Quarters was ok, a lovely house, but the wall-to-wall carpet has met many a pet and needs to go bye-bye, the fleas, the whole thing was just too much.

If I'm giving a review based on the overall experience I would give it 4 stars. The location is perfect, the view is exceptional - we whale watched from the patio and it was incredible. The house is a bit dated and dirty - stains on the carpet and ants pretty much all over the kitchen. The bedrooms are pretty small as well. However - the house is used to sleep and you are supposed to be out seeing the sights...so this worked out great for our family of 8.

Plenty of sleeping areas, beds were great. The kitchen was fantastic and loved the upstairs balcony for morning coffee. The living room furniture was not very comfortable. There was a cat smell in the living room. Other than that we would defiantly stay there again.

The house location and layout was great, my daughter loved the balconies where we could watch for whales. The dinning room table also was a great for spotting wild life, however, word to the wise; don’t take off your socks in the house, bring fabreeze and I don’t suggest letting the kiddos play on the carpet areas due to the nature of the stains. Otherwise, it’sa great house with great views and access to shopping.

Property location was perfect but there were some cleanliness issues. When we arrived the carpet and one bed reeked of urine. There were also other cleanliness issues, but the property manager was EXTREMELY responsive. The local cleaning and maintenance people were fast to respond and we were able to complete our stay. If the owners don't replace the carpet and the mattress upstairs, I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone without pets or anyone that is not ok with the urine smell. All in all the house is beautiful and the location is perfect. If the owners do some repairs and replacements I would give it 5 stars. 5 stars to Vacassa for doing everything they possibly can to make the house enjoyable.

We arrived later in the evening to find the carpet and sofa cushions all wet as if they had been recently cleaned, but because the house was closed up they were not able to dry. As a result the whole house smelled strongly of mildew on top of pet urine. We informed Vacasa (property management) and we were told someone would reach out but that never happened. The next day we tried our best to air everything out but because some rooms have no windows, there is no central hvac system, and many of the windows don’t open it didn’t help much. That day we remained out of the house as much as possible and stuck to the rooms that had ventilation. We left a day early because we couldn’t stand it and my daughter was having an allergic reaction to the mildew and probably mold. The maintenance person finally did call us after 48 hours and was very nice but really couldn’t do anything to help and we were already leaving. We still haven’t heard anything from Vacasa after reaching out multiple times to try and get help with the situation. Do not stay here.

If you have little kids or pets this might be your place. The location is great, just up from a great coffee shop and shops. And you can see the whales form the deck which is fun.
While the house is technically clean the carpet needs a good shampooing, and the walls have a bunch of dings. You can see the hot tub from the street, which is kinda weird.

Home was not totally ready. Not enough bath towels. Had to call 3 times. No dishwasher soap. Home smells of dog urine. Carpets filthy.

Great view. Nice windows. Space for your family. Location is great too. Remember pet friendly means couches, and floors definitely show signs of many pets.

King Tides @ Depoe Bay
We had a blast in Depoe Bay for the New Year’s weekend. Location and neighborhood were great! Everything was walkable, super cute shops, bars and restaurants nearby.
A neighbor caused a little bit of racket and stirred up some trouble at his home, but that was a pretty entertaining distraction. A decent puzzle selection so we were able to watch the waves and put together puzzles during the day when we didn’t want to be outside anymore.
The home was quiet and comfortable, but not quite as clean as we would have hoped. Still a great location, neighborhood, and property. Super happy we had the opportunity to stay here.
