Clearly, this is a location and a house that is geared for summer, but we needed a place for the dead of winter and it's still very comfortable, and nice.

We made this booking last minute when another property had last minute issues, and the owner was immediately responsive and welcoming. Our family gathering included a puppy (who was also welcome here) and we all enjoyed the spacious home, acreage and lake views.

This was truly a beautiful spot. I’m so glad we found this place for our weekend in Woodstock. Heather was super helpful and communicative and I’m sure this place will top any other lodging you might find in the area.

Celebrated our 28th Annual Girls Getaway in this lovely home. We loved the secluded wooded area. Caught a few fish and a snapping turtle! Due to rainy weather, we spent the majority of our time in the large and spacious kitchen/dining area, which was perfect for cooking, drinking and playing cards. The beds were very comfortable with nice bedding. The kitchen was well stocked with all essentials and the bathrooms had thick towels. Basically, we had everything we needed for our very enjoyable stay. Would recommend to anyone looking for a large home in a quiet area.

The house was a great set up for 8 of us, especially the beautiful open kitchen and dining area. It would have been nice if we could’ve had fire as the weather had gotten cooler. Also, while we were cooking the grill was pretty dirty so we had a lot of flare ups and we ran out of gas while cooking. The host was very responsive and dropped a new one.

We arrived with adult children and their friends. The common space was absolutely perfect for a large group. Peaceful, beautiful, kayaking, flyfishing...just dreamy.
This host was accommodating, easy and quick to communicate with, and made everything easy.
If you are looking for a peaceful place with plenty of room and activities available...this is it!

The hosts were great with communication and accommodating. Check in was easy. The house itself was beautiful and spacious. Loved using the kayaks they have available too. Great for a weekend getaway with friends

Perfect spot for a family celebration. Lots of room with a large kitchen and dining table. Propane tank was empty and another one was delivered right away. Great response from the owner. Several family members enjoyed the kayaks. Peaceful and relaxing.

Would definitely stay here again! All of the bedrooms had AC and the kitchen and living room were huge with plenty of space for everyone! The only downside was the floor in the kitchen was really really sticky. Owners said it was the cleaning products used on the floor. That was the only unpleasant experience.

Very comfortable house, it was perfect for a family weekend. The hike down to the dock was too steep for my dad who is unsteady on his feet but the view from the deck was great and overall we had a lovely time. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

We were in this very quiet part of CT for a family wedding and chose to rent Heathers lovely home.
It was very clean, comfie beds and sheets, well stocked home.
We enjoyed the beautiful weather we had , sat on the deck admiring the lake view, played cards, enjoyed morning tea etc. We didnt have time to take the kayaks out with the wedding events all weekend but that would have been fun.
We really enjoyed Heathers house and spending time with our children and grandchildren. So much better than a hotel room. Thank you Heather for sharing your lovely home.

Lots of room for friends to enjoy a summer escape on the water in Woodstock. We arrived before the dock was in the water (May) so we couldn’t take advantage of the great number of water craft. The access from the house to the water is steep and natural so bring your walking stick if your not as steady on your feet.
The house is beautiful and everything you need is provided for you, in season the window ac unit is available if you need it.
Our hosts were amazing - we spent the days outside and had early heatwave and they were so accommodating.

My family came for my daughter’s graduation from Umass Amherst. I chose this rental for the proximity between the school and our home.I was so happy I picked this home within the first ten minutes. Them home is beautiful. The lilac bushes surrounding the home fill the air with the most amazing fragrance. The large family kitchen enabled us to sit as a family and enjoy each other’s company. The nights are quiet and the sky filled with stars. My adult son went fishing off the dock and just enjoyed a peaceful morning. I will be back. This home in this quaint little town is one of VRBOs best keep secret. Thank you Heather for your hospitality.

Nice place with plenty of room. Kitchen had everything we needed. The 2nd floor bathroom would be better situated so the other bedroom occupants don’t have to go through the “master” to use bathroom. Otherwise, nice place!

Large home with gorgeous deck overlooking pond. Nice beds and kitchen/dining room. Very cozy and relaxing. We stayed for a UConn graduation. Host is very responsive and available to answer questions. Great find.

We had an amazing stay at Heather and Dan’s home. The home was extremely clean, well organized. An absolutely beautiful kitchen, dining room, and a deck with a great view of the lake. Even the rain didn’t ruin the great time we had. Heather was a very responsive host, and takes great care with her property. We would 110% stay here again anytime!

I rented this property for a quick retreat for my colleagues and myself. Beautiful property inside and out. Lake access with paddleboats and kayaks. Owner was accessible and very friendly. Will be staying here again in the future!! 5 stars!

Her communication was A+, she was responsive and doesn't beat around the bush. She made her answers clear when I had any questions. The house and property were beautiful and you can tell they pride themselves in keeping a clean and responsible household. She was great hostess and I would recommend working with her to anybody looking for a nice quiet stay. She was as good a host as you get.

What a beautiful property, so serene and quiet - away from it all. It was the perfect spot for a relaxing girls' weekend. Restaurants aren't too far either. The only downside was not being able to enjoy the lake more as it was wintertime, but the snow made for a very pretty view. We'd definitely stay here again!

A beautiful home on a lake that compliments the morning views! The grounds are beautiful!! Our hostess was so gracious and responsive to my requests for a perfect family and friends Thanksgiving! Clean, relaxed décor, felt like home!

We hosted 8 bridesmaids for day of weddi g hair and makeup and the openkitchen was amazing. Everyone could sit talk prep and eat. Living room was also large for all girls to ait and chat. Deck view of water woods and scenery was amazing for photos

I have to say that we really enjoyed the time we spent at Woodstock Retreat. It was just a nice relaxing weekend. Being next to the water was perfect. The house was really nice. The open area in the kitchen was perfect. We all got to be together for dinner. We had a “senior senior prom”. We all enjoyed it. The bedrooms worked out well. I would recommend staying here. Heather was great to work with. If we had any questions she responded quickly. Loved it

We were in town for a wedding. Easy check in and out. The house was big, clean and had everything we needed! Sorry it was cold and rainy so we didn’t explore the lake but it looked beautiful.

We had a great time at Heather’s property. She was very accommodating and easy to get in touch with. The house was perfect- clean, well stocked with anything you’d need, and the kitchen and deck are the perfect hang out spots for groups. We had so much fun down at the lake. This is a great place to rent for a quiet, fun weekend away!

A busy weekend with lots of coming and goings. It is a very beautiful house. There was plenty of entertaining space, inside and out on the deck. Beautiful views, and the lake is very clean and private and the boats were thoroughly enjoyed. We had questions and the response was quick.

Quiet Low Key Stay
We hosted a low-key bachelorette weekend at the house. We were interested in the property because of the amount of space, large table in the kitchen for us all to sit together at, and the access to the lake with kayaks/canoe to use. Check in was seamless and the house was very clean except for a few bugs that kept managing to make their way into the house (but what can you expect for a lakehouse). Everything you could need was in the kitchen and the natural light and windows as well as the large table to fit everyone made the kitchen the spot we spent most of our time. Beds were comfy. Wish we could've stayed longer!

The location and setting of this property is great, the view is lovely. The home is spacious, lot's of room to spread out and areas for privacy as well. Very comfortable first floor. We had a nice time (this is an annual getaway reunion ....15th year... and we have a wonderful time no matter where we are)
A few things to mention: The house is not very clean. With one exception, the beds are not comfortable AND there are PLASTIC mattress pads on all the beds. Not only is this noisy every rime you move on the bed, it is hot...plastic does not breath! There weren't screens on the windows on the second floor, the owner was responsive when called and told us where the screens were for us to put in. We also had the option of putting the air conditioners in the windows ourselves???? We opted for the screens, but thought that just a quick look at the weather in advance, would have shown there was to be a heat wave, and this should have been taken care of before check in. (We did this in order to determine what to pack!)
This is the first negative review I have ever sent, but these things did impact our stay.
