The Gillis House was a perfect stay for my partner and group of friends. Each year we celebrate my birthday, which is around Halloween, by doing a murder-mystery party. Our group of friends have come to expect this every year, and with our recent move to Oregon and everyone else back in California, Yreka happened to be the almost exact mid-point for us to reconvene. Stacey the property manager me us onsite to run through the operation, quirks, and management of the house that has particularities that come with a house of this age and size. There were really no special care instructions that were tedious; every part of the stay was straightforward and mostly care free. On our second night, the ball-and-claw foot tub didn't want to shut off after we bathed the baby before bedtime. Cindy the owner was very responsive to help us troubleshoot and find a solution and didn't interrupt our night at all. We appreciated that everyone communicated very clearly and the house was set up to be very comfortable for our large group, pet friendly for our dog, and had all the modern amenities for a nice enjoyable stay in a beautifully preserved historic home. We will be looking to stay again.

We stayed at the Gillis House for a 10-sibling family gathering. We are all seniors, and felt the stairs were easy to navigate. The kitchen and bathrooms were well-appointed. (All of the beds were comfortable, save the twin beds, which could be attributed to not sleeping on one for 55 years.) We have stayed in many VRBO's in 5 states for our annual family gathering over the past 10 years, such as Bandon, Tahoe and Estes Park, and concluded this one was the best for us!

We were a group of 5 couples attending a wedding in Montaque. The Gillis Mansion is like stepping back in time with all the modern amenities. I was amazed at the comfort of the very well-stocked house. Our whole group agrees we would definitely stay at the Gillis Mansion again!

I grew up in Yreka and have been by this house a thousand times. Being able to stay here and have such a great experience was amazing!
I stayed here with my family and my brother's family. There were so much space and never did we feel too crowded.
The cleanliness of the house was great. I am pretty picky and I was blown away by what a great job they did with such a large home. All the furnishings fit the house beautifully and the remodeling that was done was very tasteful. The house is beyond stocked for almost anything you like to do. I wish we had more time so that I could've used the incredible kitchen!
Communication with the owner was great and easy. We didn't get a chance to meet in person but their property manager was nice to deal with as well.
This is such a piece of history for the town of Yreka and I'm grateful that they have kept this house up and are allowing people to stay there. I hope we get another chance to stay here in the future!

When we first stumbled upon this Mansion on Vrbo, it seemed almost too good to be true. There must be a catch! But everything was as perfect as it seemed on the listing. Cynthia is the most thoughtful, gracious host.
We stayed at this mansion with my parents and our friends and had the best experience imaginable. The mansion is located just 5 minutes away from I-5, and we walked to Yreka downtown and coffee shop every single day because it was so close. The mansion has lot of rooms and space to accomodate large parties. It has all the great amenities such as fully equipped 2 kitchens with full cookware and modern dinnerware and glassware.
Cynthia was very considerate to provide portable air conditioners for each room, so you’ll have everything you need during your stay.
The bedrooms all have their own bathroom and plenty of privacy. We loved the small details such as - multiple mobile chargers provided in each of the rooms and common areas and board games provided for the kids.

We had a great time staying at the Gillis Mansion with our kids and grandkids. It’s a beautiful property equipped with everything we needed. Both the owner and property manager were great to communicate with.
We played tons of games and had a live Clue night in costumes . Lifetime memories. 5 stars!

This was the best short term rental ever for a siblings reunion. This place is absolutely beautiful... Impressive bedrooms, antique beds and furniture, plenty of bathrooms and large kitchen. It was perfect as it has five bedrooms with more than ample space and privacy. We expected it to be nice but it exceeded our expectations.Hopefully those who rent this place in the future will treat it with the respect and care it deserves so it can be enjoyed for many years to come..

This house was perfect for a gathering of extended family. We had large group meals around the table, and the ample seating in the front room, library and elsewhere made it possible for smaller groups to visit comfortably.
The house is beautifully appointed and the bedrooms are luxurious.

My sisters and I with our husbands had a reunion at this beautiful home in Yreka where we grew up. The house was even better than we could imagine. We felt like royalty! Highly recommend.

This historic home is beautifully restored with museum quality furnishings and artwork. Check-in went smoothly and the home was even better than we expected. We did not have any young children in our group. Parents will need to be extra vigilant if you stay here as the furnishings are exquisite and many look irreplaceable. The beds are exceptionally comfortable. The location was perfect. We walked a few blocks to check out the local stores. The candy shop was a fun stop. The spacious kitchen worked great for our meals. The outside deck was a great place to enjoy the homemade ice cream we made. We also appreciated the upstairs kitchen with coffee and teas. It was very hot during our stay, but the house stayed comfortable with the fans and AC units in bedrooms. Thanks for sharing your lovely home.

This was a very old and historic home and a fun experience to stay at. We were with lots of family, had plenty of bathrooms, beds and space for us all. The home has work that is being done, but did not under our stay. We very much enjoyed the comfort of this amazing space and had a great time exploring the home.

One of the absolute best properties we have ever stayed with, Home was breathtakingly beautiful- convenient location- and owners were easy to communicate with and had met all request before we even new what we needed- home was well stocked, felt very comfortable and relaxing. If yoy are looking for a place in Yreka area- you wont find any place better! Highly recccommend!
