The Roundhouse is a fabulous property with unique accommodation. It was lovely to be in our own private space which was very spacious and comfortable. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, even offered us a lift back when we bumped into them in town one evening. Breakfast was perfect with fruit and yogurts, toast, etc followed by a hot option and they managed to still provide a cooked breakfast and coffee on the morning we were there during load shedding. Location was slightly outside of the town centre but easily walkable, and Ubers were plentiful which we used one way for the Wine Tram depot.

A slight niggle was the road noise, particularly noticeable on the Sunday morning when motorbikes seem to race past to get over the nearby Pass early in the morning. Didn't detract from the stay though.

Breakfast was excellent , lots of choice and Debbie ( our host) had excellent choices for our vegan friends . Rooms were very clean and comfortable . The pool was clean .

These roundhouses are one of the loveliest places I have ever stayed! We travelled as two couples, and had a gorgeous air conditioned, thatched roundhouse per couple. The roundhouses are beautifully furnished and equipped, with real character, making such a nice change from a faceless hotel room. We received a really warm welcome from our English host, Debbie, who lives onsite in a third roundhouse with her husband Lee and their two doggies! The breakfast exceeded all our expectations, home cooked on site by Lee, who is a former professional chef, and served in a summer house next to the private pool. The town is about 10 minutes walk away, and there you will find some lovely bars, restaurants and shops, which are really good for souvenirs - much better than Cape Town, in my opinion. Also in town is the ticket office and station for the Franschhoek wine tram, which is a 'must do' while you are there. Franschhoek itself has quite an expat feel about it, and we felt perfectly safe walking around, even at night. Would thoroughly recommend.

This is not a criticism, but just a tip. The houses and roads en route from the Roundhouses to and from the town are quite homogenous (all look the same!), so make sure you make a note of the route and any landmarks you pass as you go down to the town, so you can find your way back more easily :-) .

The breakfast was very good. The owners very pleasant and helpful. Nice to relax/cool off in the pool.

Our only adverse comment is that, being close to the Franschhoek mountain pass road, there was significant traffic noise from lorries climbing the hill and also fumes.

Very private and safe area, short walk to bars and restaurants. Stunning scenery, and lovely private and secluded accommodation.

Nearby road can be occasionally noisy during day if large lorry chooses to go up the pass, but quiet at night.

We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Debbie was there to meet us and could not do enough to make us comfortable. The breakfast was brilliant. The location was within an easy walk of town.

The only possible downside was the proximity to the main road which was a bit noisy at times, but nothing that was unbearable.

We had a lovely stay at Roundhouse Guesthouse. we can highly recommend it and would stay there again! The roundhouse is beautifully furnished, we enjoyed some time by the pool in the evening and it was only a 5min walk from the Main Street in Franschhoek for dinner. The breakfast was also excellent.

The owners have done an exceptional job with the fit out of the rondavel. The actual room and bathroom better than many ‘5*’ hotels I have stayed in. Breakfast was also excellent

I liked that we were not with other people , having our own place, tranquility, except for nature outside. I liked Debbie's hospitality, friendly person, will recommend to my friends for a getaway

If you a light sleeper it may be a little difficult to fall asleep as the property is by a main road. It's not a highway or railway so you'll still get some decent sleep.

The breakfast exceeded the exceptional breakfast as advertised.

Everything was perfect! The little house was so much bigger than we expected - enormous bed and beautiful bathroom. Our hosts were really responsive and welcoming, lending us umbrellas for the one day there was a bit of rain. We also totally forgot that breakfast was included which was a fantastic addition and really delicious with a huge variety of options! Slightly off the main road but still a great location and could reach everywhere we needed to within minutes so for us it was perfect. Thank you so much, we will definitely book here again next time we come!!
