Location a bit complicated but eventually we arrived safely

I did not like their breakfast, had to wait for almost an hour then it came cold, the tea came quick but not up to standard

I loved this place due to the warmth that was given by the stuff especially during breakfast, they would prepare some of the food to your taste and requirements . The idea of paying for breakfast and having to drive a couple of kilometers outside the estate to have breakfast at a restaurant kills the vibe of being a guest house. The stuff at the guest house is welcoming and friendly and the restaurant is the opposite. Pretoria East has a lot of options when it comes to restaurant and i can't be forced to go to a restaurant. When i booked a guest house and paid for breakfast and i am expected to go have it somewhere else., its a NO NO for me . I will never book at this guest house again, NEVER AGAIN.

Missing handles on the shower door, old glue residue in the shower, mold in the shower, Shower head was disgusting, to say the least, the balcony floor hasn't been washed in ages, the AC was being switched off when I leave and came back every time, the room smells of mold if the ac is off, carpets haven't been washed, Kitchen needs cutlery, glasses, pots, etc. The doors to the balcony sound like it's about to snap off when you open them up (No maintenance), and there is no information given about what you can do inside the estate. The Internet is poor, barley a connection in my room needs to be upgraded.

The rooms are big and clean with big bathrooms and terrace.

Unfortunately I have to list a few things I did not like: 1. Although the "payment at the property" in the booking process, I was charged half of the price in advance. 2. Wifi very poor in many rooms. 3. Breakfast served outside the Silver Lakes. 4. Facilities like cinema and jacuzzi not working and swimming pool not heated (are they there only for show?)

I selected "pay at premises" option when making the booking, which was confirmed in the email by booking.com - stating categorically that NO upfront payment is required. However, Links guesthouse just went ahead a snatched the amount from my credit card 4 days prior to arrival without any prior warning. One member in our group was supposed to pay all of our stay - now I have to do a long claim process, which was not supposed to be the case. If the guesthouse wants to secure their cashflow upfront, that is fine - BUT then that should be clearly communicated while making the booking. I believe Links guesthouse is deliberately selling "lenient" terms to get customers - but have no intention of honoring those terms. Also, I requested the paying organization to be copied in the email for the tax invoice - obviously this wasn't done. Also, it isn't ideal that the breakfast didn't take place at the premises or even in the estate - we had to drive to a restaurant few km away.
