Crest on Barkly was amazing value for money. Great location, good facilities, well appointed room for the price. The service was excellent, would highly recommend.

Decent hotel that looks like it has seen better days but is good for a few days. Small gym, laundry, parking, café/bottleshop and bar on-site
Good tram-connections nearby and walking distance to lots of amenities on Fitzroy street, St. Kilda beach and Albert Park

Clean and fairly quiet. Reasonably priced. Would stay again. Would recommend to my friends.

Didnt like a room with an adjoining door..the people in the room next door sounded like they were in MY room at 12.30am.

Nice clean property and big room in a very convenient location. Could not complain about anything.

Room was quite small. Bathroom was tiny. Bed was comfortable enough. Very noisy when people were exiting early in the morning. We felt Crest on Park was a better hotel. We won't be staying at Crest on Barkly again.

Not the best hotel. A bit run down in need of some work. Shower terrible pressure. Soft pillows. Room wasnt clean clean. Windows so dirty couldnt see out of.
The hotel says at check in takes a holding fee for deposit incase of damages. We asked if money is taken off card to advoud card charges. We were told no its just a holding fee. Not true. Hotel took money off and hols it for 5 to 7 days !!!! Shocking in this day in age. To hold onto peoples money. When discussed at checkout , lady on reception said this is normal for hotels here. No its not we travled all around the world and have never had a hotel take extra money and keep it for a week after we leave!!! Wont be back and wouldnt recommend.

The check in was easy, very friendly staff. Our room was clean, comfortable and had what we needed. We had a car, but walked to the restaurant area easily, approx 15 minute walk. Felt safe walking around the area. Public transport is right out the door. Its a great location. Its good value for money and would stay here again. The staff were all helpful and friendly.

Position good
Property very average

Terrible room facilities & customer services - In bathroom, shower mixer and exhaust fan malfunction, towel rail loosened out and moulding around window sills. Complaints to front desk 2 times on Day 1 & 2, but no improvement and feedback. Eventually, strike for room changing on Day 3 with reception. No communication with different shifts of their front desk manager. STRONGLY NOT RECOMMENDED.

Stay was good. We arrived as a party of 4 but they only provided 2 towels - when asked to provide for more they informed us that the laundramat was closed and more towels couldn't be provided. Stay would definitely be a 4/5 rating if it weren't for that.

A lot of noise from the corridors can be heard in the room

Guys the no ventilation and lack of air circulation is a worry.
No windows in rm 05?
Corridor and rooms smell a bit like an old brothel ... (Let me know if it is!😉)
Reception staff are awesome!

Searched for a room for 2 adults and 1 child(14) and the room only had 1 bed. The room was very small. The shower room door can’t be opened if someone is on the toilet. Paper thin walls with other guests making a lot of sexual noises at 6pm when we checked in and more noise again in the morning.
Area surrounding felt very unsafe to walk around at night

The room was beautiful, service good. Had some issues with hot/cold water in the shower, hopefully has been sorted out.

parking easy.

Upon check in staff member was disinterested. Seemed like he would rather be anywhere else.
Then there was no parking. Got told to park somewhere (in st kilda it’s mostly permit parking) and then go get my car at 6pm when an event finishes and then pay $20 to park my car. I had to park nearly a km away and carry my bags all that way. Room was okay, air conditioner didn’t work. Room was so hot.
Other than that, it was okay. Served the purpose of a bed for the night.

Room for four people only had two towels, bath tap ran water out of it the whole time the shower head was on. Have been waiting four days and still don’t have my security deposit back after being told it would take 2 days. Tv in our room didn’t work.
Price was good, room was clean, beds were comfortable.

Disclaimer: I am disabled and wheelchair-bound, and this review is in-line with the hotel knowing my requirements at the time of booking.
First of all, disabled access was next to nil. My partner asked reception to allow us to use the elevator (disabled access was only via a lift in the carpark/basement, whereas reception was on the ground floor) so that I could come up to pay for the room (as it was in my name) - they would not allow her to do so until the room and deposit was fully paid. I was waiting alone for at least 20 minutes during this interval.
The elevator could barely fit a collapsible self-propelled wheelchair, let alone anything beyond that.
The room itself was BARELY wheelchair accessible. The front door did not stay open, and constantly swung back onto me.
The bathroom door was wide enough... But the door could not open more than 50cm due to the bed obstructing it, making the accessibility obsolete. While there was a shower chair and assistive handles in there, access itself was minimal.
I would not suggest this hotel again at all to anyone with any sort of mobility requirements.
