Driving through on a family trip to visit the National Parks. I don’t typically leave reviews but felt very mislead! The room was very outdated, stained carpet, odor, the property had dumpsters and caution tape- maybe it was under construction. If so, that information was not disclosed. Killed a spider or some strange bug in the bedroom. Couldn’t figure out how to turn the fire place on, no information or instructions given. Not greeted or acknowledged when we walked in the lobby for the continental breakfast which was convenient and appreciated. No elevator or at least we couldn’t find one and had to carry all luggage. Our hot tub was empty. We basically checked in, grabbed dinner in town and checked out as soon as possible first thing in the morning. Staff were having a business meeting right next to us when we were trying to enjoy coffee at the breakfast area. Not a place you want take hang out and relax. I can see potential but the place was a mess!

There were a few things that needed some attention and it looks like they are updating things. Overall it was an enjoyable stay.

Loved the room and the hottub on the private balcony. I did not care for all the construction and remodeling of the whole property. I understand charging a resort fee when you have resort amenities. But, i did not appreciate paying a resort fee when the spa is closed for remodeling. The restaurant is on limited hours with limited menu. I feel like they shouldnt be charging a resort fee until they have everything opened.

The bed seemed to be outdated and a lot of outside noise like doors banging a lot.

Not sure why we had to pay full price since the big pool wasn't open. that was a bit deceiving and not mentioned on the website. Also our room was advertised to be on a higher floor, but we were on the bottom and our view was a couple of storage containers and a dumpster. For the price we paid for that room I would've expected much more.

The Rooms are extremely clean and dining was wonderful, but no where was it listed that there would be construction due to new ownership. Hot tub off balcony did not work, continental breakfast was very simple. And the phone number listed did not work, and made it hard to contact the lodge. We were supposed to be comped one nights stay due to all the unknowns, but no one ever got back to us after several attempts of reaching out after finally getting a contact number.

We really enjoyed our stay! The room was spacious, we have an 18 and 19 year old that slept in one room and then our 4 year old stayed in our room. We had fun calling the cat, Sargent Pepper up to say hi! The hot tub was really big and never crowded. We enjoyed playing games with our family in the reception area. They had a fireplace and games to choose from, it was lovely! We liked that quiet time started at 9, the restaurant was above our room, so we appreciated that they closed about that time too, so we didn’t hear the chairs and noise into the night. Overall I recommend for families!

A great place with lots of character. They are making some nice improvements and renovations and we could tell a big difference from our previous stay. More options for breakfast would be appreciated but not a deal breaker.

We really liked the property and the room was great. The Clay’s were full of information about the area re shops and restaurants.

Did not like the fact that there was no one at the check in or check out desk. No one to answer questions.

We got “upgraded” to a better room randomly, and it barely had any hot water, tub had drainage issues and shower head would not turn off. Hot tub on patio didn’t work but that wasn’t a necessity. The set up was very nice however. Beautiful room. Just inconvenient.

We loved our stay at Chipeta Lodge this fall! We especially enjoyed the cozy yet spacious feel of our room and the beautiful pool and hot tub area. The staff members we spoke to were very kind and accommodating and were even able to help us check in early (an extra bonus after a cold and rainy night of camping before we arrived)! One downside of our stay was that a couple of the appliances in our room seemed outdated or broken. We couldn’t seem to get our dishwasher to do a decent job of cleaning dishes, and the remote for the gas fireplace was missing, but we were offered the option to switch to another room. Since we were just there for one night, this wasn’t too big of an issue. Overall, we loved our experience and would stay there again!

Jade at front desk was absolutely amazing. So accommodating and a delight to interact with :)
The room was garbage. Nowhere near the $380 we paid for it. Bugs everywhere, bathroom window latch was broken so we couldn’t close it. The room was so far from being ADA friendly for my family member she couldn’t even take a shower due to the design. We were confirmed for a room a hot tub but apparently renovations meant that wasn’t true. No extra blankets, fireplace was broken (had sticker indicating it was out of order).
I wouldn’t come near this place for the price until they finish renovating. Period.

Terrible don’t stay. Not what picture are posted they from 20 years ago. Couldn’t turn heat down shower didn’t
Work no tv channels fireplace doesn’t work had to sleep with windows open. Ceiling fan so full of dust turned off right away. First negative post I have ever made take it to heart. PS this sure did not score me any points on our Anniversary. 350 but I will stay anywhere but here

Terrible. My room wouldn’t get below 75 degrees even though it’s 65 outside. Had to leave windows and door open to try to cool it down. When I complained to front desk, she gave me a bucket of ice and said I can access the pool to cool down.
Restaurant is closed for renovations which I was not aware of.
I was double charged. I complained, no refund. When checking out, no one was at the front desk. I found 2 employees who were also unable to find anyone to help. One of them texted the GM with no response. When I try calling the main hotel number I get a recording saying to contact via text. I sent a text, sent emails to the main hotel email and GM, no response. Found a number to the restaurant, that manager took my info, no response. Hotel owes me over $1000. This is unacceptable.

False advertisement, the room was nothing like it showed in the pictures they put us in a handicap room. Nothing worked in the room the fireplace didn’t work, the air conditioner, which came out of the wall a wall unit which was ghetto head sound like it had a bird noise it all night. You can hear the people upstairs like they were right in the room with us. it really was a bummer we thought we were gonna have a nice place to stay and then they charge my card $319 for incidentals which we spent nothing there and really messed my account up. I’m not happy at all.

I see the potential of this location. I enjoyed the hot pool and the surrounding. Unfortunately I came during upgrade season so the bar and restaurant were not open.
Like every mountain town, staffing is an issue. The GM was very helpful in getting me in my room!

The rooms were recently remodeled and very nice. The landscaping requires some attention but I didn’t appreciate the early morning noise associated with the mowing and other work going on. I was hoping to sleep past 8.

The front desk staff was the most unfriendly, rude I have ever experienced. The facility was extremely run down. My room was on the third floor, no elevator and no one helped me carry my luggage up to my room. My shower did not drain well leaving several inches of water for me to stand In as I showered, had to wait an hour for water to fully drain. When I checked out the staff couldn’t even look up from her phone.

The specific room we stayed in was really the best part of the stay. There was a personal jacuzzi on the private back patio. Perfect for the evening.
They advertise that they have a restaurant/dining in the lodge but it is under construction so it’s closed. Even when you call the restaurant is says the business hours, nothing about the “under construction” or temporary closure. We did walk to a within walking distance restaurant. The Spa is by appointment only so schedule ahead of time and don’t wait till you get there. I called right after check in approx 4:30 and no one answered. We didn’t have coffee filters in the room so we had to use a paper towel. The key to the door was tricky and we had to mess with that a bit. The complimentary breakfast was bagels, English muffins, granola for your yogurt, coffee and apples. My definition of complimentary is different from theirs. There was little to no effort put into providing a complimentary breakfast.
This place was just about sold out when I rented our one night stay and for the price of the night I expected what they advertised. Their marketing tactics are for business not quality in what they provide. The property looks run down and nothing like the pictures.
Until things are up and running they need to lower the price for a highly stay.

Nice design, but dated. Needs updating. Could be done simply but it needs some work.

The architecture is amazing, as is the location and setting, but this place needs detailing! Let me give some examples. The carpet in the stairway was filthy. A faucet in the room spewed water onto the counter. The deadlock got stuck twice. There were no napkins at the breakfast buffet. I inquired about using the bicycles, but the host said she did not know about that. No one seemed sure of anything.
The pool is stunning, and we really enjoyed the rooftop bar and entertainment. I really hope this place can get its act together because it could really be an incredible destination.

This place is basically a cheap motel that charges really high rates. Everything is OK but there was no air conditioner, stuff was broken, and everything is completely average. We paid over $400 for a night and it just isn't even close to worth it. It should be a $150 a night hotel. Funniest part was the free "breakfast". There were literally 2 bagels in a bin and some bitter coffee.

This unique 33 room hotel, restaurant, spa property is a beautiful Southwest vibe and ambience. The rooms and common areas are beautifully appointed. The location and views are spectacular. Just minutes away from historic Ouray. The towels, spa robes and in room comforts were great. The room we had came with a patio deck of its own. We will be back and recommend it to friends.

Would not choose to stay here again. Both hostesses' we interacted with were extremely rude, two of the three windows in our room were broken, blankets and sheets were old, etc. Basically it was budget hotel quality for a mid-range hotel price. The restaurant, however, is great and the staff there were super friendly.

It was noisy but new owners are having to do upgrade. So it isn’t their fault. But they really should state it when booking. Was very accommodating to us as we were going to have to do stairs, so she upgraded us to a floor on ground level. As we don’t do stairs very well. She did not charge us which was very very nice!!
