Swan Hotel by Greene King Inns

Comfortable room, plenty of space, nice shower, lovely restutant

Our double room was a bit small. Okay for a couple of nights, not so good if we’d wanted to stay longer. Also, like a lot of budget hotels, the windows on the ground floor were locked shut. Not great during the heatwave.

We chose this hotel based on its proximity to the wedding venue at Froyle Park. We were pleasantly welcomed by Elisha on front desk and gave us all the information we needed for our first nights stay. There were some steps to our room but we were already made aware with excellent communication from the team at the time of booking. Our room was spacious for a family with a double bed and a pull out double sofa bed. Bathroom looked very nice and modern with new tiles and a great power shower. Above all, the friendly and helpful nature of every single member of staff we came into contact with made a stay the most pleasant and enjoyable one - it was genuine, you could feel it. The hotel manager who is gifted in speaking multiple languages was so helpful in telling us what was local to us and how to get to places. I struggled getting my young toddlers out by check out time and started panicking, however we were helped by the wonderful housekeeper (I wrote everyone’s names down and now can’t find it) from the Philippines, who helped carry one of my babies down to reception and told me not to worry. Staying away from home with a young family can be stressful and wherever you end up staying can either reduce that stress or make it go through the roof. If I’m ever in Alton again, I will not hesitate to rebook my stay here. Thank you so much!

I had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend. The rooms are very spacious, staff are lovely and the atmosphere within the pub and dining is excellent
