Host was very nice and helpful in our stay.

Hotel is very rundown and outdated paint. Peeling cracks in the sidewalks very rough condition. Nothing like the photos they need to update them or their hotel one of the other.

This hotel is in a good location with great parking. The lobby lacks some style. My room was very nice with a great new bathroom. It was a great value

The hotel is shabby, the desk manager inattentive, none of the clocks were set to correct time, television inoperable, breakfast sub-standard.

Nightmare. I made a reservation on November 25th for New Year's Eve 2023 for my friend and I. Two hours before check in time on NYE, while we were traveling from NYC and Boston respectively to meet at the hotel, I was texted by the hotel that my reservation had been canceled because it was "New Year's Eve and no one was going to be at the hotel, but we hope to see you again." The staff member said that he contacted Expedia three days prior to cancel, however Expedia disputed this and verified that no changes were made to my reservation status and that I had a confirmed reservation. In text message conversations en route to the hotel, the staff had no accountability for the random last minute cancelation, leaving my friend and I to be homeless on New Years Eve. It is standard practice in the hotel industry for hotel staff to find alternative comparable lodging at no additional cost from the original price to the consumer in these instances. The hotel did not source alternative accommodation or volunteer to help, but relented after protracted and panicked text messaging. Upon check in, the hotel staff eventually allowed the reservation to be maintained. The hotel had massive security concerns as both the front and side doors were not locked and there was no staff in the building. Further, there were only three or four guests in the hotel, making it tantamount to an abandoned building with open entrances and no staff or guests. Also, there was no breakfast as advertised.

I was never able to stay at the property. I made the reservation almost one month prior for New Years Eve, and they called on the day of to tell me I could not stay at the hotel because it was closed...???

It was the worst hotel stay with us. Very dirty clothes out the front of the building and dirty. The breakfast in the morning was old. I get into a moldy pastry. My husband made waffle, and a waffle mixture was curdled and old and smelled funny. There was no one around in the morning for customer service in the morning!

This property is extremely tired and needs updated. The pictures online are very misleading - yes, the rooms have queen beds in them but the room is not well lit whatsoever, there are multiple holes in the walls, scuff marks everywhere, mold in the tracks in the bathroom, etc. etc.

Prior owners offered a much better breakfast selection. There is now one too strong coffee, six pieces of artificial egg for protein, and generally speaking an extraordinarily poor breakfast offering. Breakfast is also offered late--only starting at 7:30 a.m..
Check-in is at 4:00 p.m., and nobody is at the desk at off hours, so there is no way to get in earlier.
Whatever laundry detergent the hotel has shifted to is heavily scented, so one smells it on the bed sheets. The bathroom towels and toiletries have also been seriously downgraded.
On the plus side, the hotel is still in a great location, value priced, and appears to be clean and bedbug free.

the cable tv was not working, which may not have been their fault, and the breakfast was not as advertised...pretty sparse really.

We arrived and there was no one at the front desk so we went to have lunch. We came back and there was a couple checking in "early", based on the fact that they had reportedly requested an early check in (who knew it was an option). That being said the woman at the desk was having a problem with the room card machine. When I inquired as to whether or not my wife and I could check in we were informed that there was a $50 charge to do so. So we waited and read in the lobby (the vouch was wayer stained) and at the stroke of 3PM a " gentleman " appeared and asked "so how are you doing today?" I responded "frustrated". He evidently knew the situation because as he checked us in he took this placard and snarkily turned it around to show me that check in time was 4PM. He went out of his way to be rude. We stayed at the St. Charles last year. I can assure you once we check out tomorrow morning we wont be back next year.

Quiet, clean, adequate room and facilities. Absolutely no staff on site. I was lucky to catch a maintenance person once. "Free breakfast" is not worth it--you will want to walk two doors down to the Hudson Roastery. Hanging the "Maid Service Please" placard on the door has no effect. Priced very low, but you can see how they keep costs down--no staff and dreadful food.

Checked in late and taken care of quickly. Clean and quite.

This property--run by a very friendly family--lacks the polish and elegance of some of the big chains, but our room was very clean and comfortable, and it had all or substantially all of the features you see in the competition--a refrigerator, microwave, flat screen TV, modern shower, and desk to work at. It has an excellent location. And importantly, it also was very modestly priced. In fact, it was a great buy. We'll happily return there.

The staff was friendly and nice. But the hotel seemed a bit under construction and a not very warm atmosphere.

TV didn't work, shower looked like they washed with a muddy rag, every time someone left the building the whole room rattled. And this was an upgraded room from the one I reserved. For they amount they charge I would expect a little more.

Clean hotel just off one of Hudson’s best shopping and eating streets.

Budget hotel at luxury prices. Pine sol and air freshener will knock you over. Very run down but clean. Nice folks at the front desk. Grateful our stay was only one night.

This hotel is very old and outdated. The sheets had stains and barely fit the bed. The entire room smelled like perfumed disinfectant. The AC\heat unit was dusty and dirty. The phones next the bed and the hair dryer were filthy. There were cracks in the walls.
The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the rooms next door and hallways.

Upon arrival we had to call a number to get checked in at Lobby desk, we waited 15 minutes before being greeted . Unable to use the front entrance of the hotel and the doors of the hotel get locked at 12 midnight so you are forced to call a number to be let in.

Adequate. This hotel used to be lovely, and the location is convenient for visiting Hudson and environs. The beds are comfortable and the shower works well. But it's nothing special; they force an "incidentals" charge of $50 on every bill--but with no restaurant or bar, there's no place to spend an "incidentals" charge. I'm waiting to see how long till they refund. Wouldn't stay there again.

Loved the creaky old wooden floor in the lobby of this 200 yr old hotel. Rooms were modern, clean, & large.
Continental bkfst was meager

The lobby was a frightful mess, and looked to be in need of a rehab very badly. No one at desk, and phone numbers listed produced no response. Breakfast barely adequate.
Given all that, the room itself was fine: AC worked, as did the TV, and the bathroom was clean. It was like two different places.

It looks and smells like the building was vacant for many years and they are trying to make it new again. Half of the air conditioners don’t work, the rooms smell musty with air freshener sprayed to cover.
The doors are locked from midnight to 6am and don’t have key card entry. There is a Ring doorbell off to the side that calls the people that run the building (I’m pretty sure they live in a back room somewhere).
They are in a garbage part of town and I’m pretty sure someone was trying to break into my vehicle (alarm went off and I immediately went outside to see someone get in a car and move it 2 parking spaces over to talk to another vehicle, smoked whatever, then drove back to original parking spot. Yes, 2 spaces away).
If you want a receipt for company business expenses, good luck. No one is at the desk, and when you call they tell you they’re too busy. But there are only about 5 people staying in the hotel. I’m not sure why they’re too busy.
I should have known better when I saw the hotel’s email is a gmail address. Lesson learned. I’ll stay 20 minutes away before I book at this place for location convenience.
On a good note, the mattresses and pillows are all new and comfortable.

Room was clean and satisfactory. The entrance of the hotel is quite round down. Check in desk was empty and no one responded to the calls to the phone numbers left on a notice on the counter.
20 minutes later someone finally showed up to check me in.

The room was as expected and nice enough. The lobby was in pretty bad shape. There were no people on staff when we showed up so we we had to walk the town for an hour. Also no one at desk when we left. It’s very so so. It was the least expensive option for Hudson but still way more than it should be.

Great stopping place for anyone using the Empire State Trail. The hotel has seen some years, but alot has been done to update it. Would definitely stay again.

It’s a great old building going through renovations. Great budget stay for an amazing town!

The room was huge, and it was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. I liked that staff was easily reachable. My only suggestion is to make the lobby more comfortable, it was bare-bones.

I arrived at the time I was told was check-in time: 3.00. The manager said check-in time was actually 4.00 on weekends. (People arriving after me had the same experience.) After 10-15 minutes he got me checked in and said he'd "waive" the early check in fee. Gee, thanks.
He also told me the hotel is locked after midnight and that I have to call a number to gain entrance (?!) but later that night when I returned to the hotel at 1 am, the front door was open. Wide open. No one there at all. Not the safest situation...
The hotel itself is a bit run down although the room was fine. It's cheaper than other area hotels and it doesn't require two night stays so I guess it fits a need.
If money is not a concern, this is not the place for you. If you're trying to crash for a night or so as inexpensively as possible, this is an adequate option.

Common areas included damaged ceilings, unpainted wall surfaces, unsightly landscaping.
Absolutely not deserving of $300 and $400 price points.

The young couple that own this grand old hotel are making big changes... And heading towards an exciting future of continued improvements. Give them some support and help them get there!

Satisfactory hotel but overpriced for what it is. Updates and repairs to lobby and rooms are needed. Owners are friendly, and it was an ok stay, but not great, and not worth the price. Moderately clean, but not spotless by any means. The positive side is the location, right in town and walking distance to most things.

Centrally located hotel next to a park. Easy to get everywhere on foot.
Comfortable place to sleep.
The hotel manager MD is a charming person. He did everything to make our trip a pleasure.

At the very least you could clean up the storefront of your building and tend to the 'garden' at the entrance to your property. The first impressions are grim!
Hotel was adequate but very expensive.

Too expensive for the size of the room.
