The Last Frontier Boutique Resort

Honestly, the hospitality here blew us away, easily the best we experienced throughout our entire trip to Malaysia. Jason, Ryan, and the rest of the team were just genuinely lovely people. They shared so many great insights about the area and made sure every little detail of our stay was taken care of. The lodge itself was really nice and comfortable, and the food was delicious, we really appreciated the vegetarian options too. The river cruises were a highlight. We were lucky enough to spot loads of wildlife, which felt pretty special. Highly recommend!

We had the most incredible stay here! Jason and his team really looked after us from start to finish. Our guide Ryan was extremely knowledgable and made such an effort to ensure we saw as much wildlife as possible; we paid a little extra to do the morning cruise which was 100% worth it. We were also very impressed with the food which was made fresh and tasted delicious. Special thanks again to Jason who was the perfect host full of warmth and great advice. We feel very lucky to have stayed here and can’t recommend this place highly enough.

The most amazing stay. The kitchen excelled with all our food allergies and nothing was too much trouble for them. We saw wild Orangutans near the lodge. Only 4 rooms, so quiet and less mosquitoes than those places on the river. I loved my stay and highly recommend to others.

We had such an amazing experience at The Last Frontier! From the moment we were picked up in Sandakan/Sepilok, everything was taken care of and we immediately felt really welcomed. Jason is an amazing person, very knowledgeable, kind and always available. He took the time to answer all our questions and made sure everything went smoothly during our stay. We also really appreciated the very thoughtful gesture he made after a small issue with our bags. It honestly says a lot about how much he cares about his guests and their experience. Ryan, our guide for the excursions, was also incredible. He really takes his time to look for wildlife, helps you spot the Borneo Big Five, takes photos for you and genuinely wants you to have the best experience possible. He’s the boss! You do have to climb around 600 steps to reach the lodge, but honestly, it is completely worth it. Once you arrive, you are surrounded by nature, the whole team is lovely and the food is absolutely insane. For the food alone, I would give 10,000/10. Every meal was delicious. We honestly don’t even eat this well sometimes back home in France! A huge thank you to Jason, Ryan and the whole team for making our stay so special. Keep doing exactly what you’re doing, you guys are amazing. ❤️
