Super well located in Kyoto. Very clean and very nice everything. Would stay here again.

Location of the accommodation was ideal for my wife and I - peaceful and away from all the hustle and bustles of the shopping districts. The room was spacious and has amenities that are well maintained. However, one downside was that the walls of the room are so thin that you can even hear the hair dryer blowing next door. Service was fantastic with the duty concierge greeting you everytime you leave/arrive at the hotel. Perhaps one thing that they can improve on is getting a better antenna/signal for the tv as it doesn't work/have signal most of the time, resulting in us not able to use the tv for our stay. Overall, we had a pleasant stay with The Machiya Ebisuya!

We had a great time at this hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They had assisted me when I lost my cell phone during the stay in Kyoto. Appreciated their help. I would highly recommend this hotel for its convenient location too.

Place was great and as described. It was really clean and very close to a lot of places we wanted to visit including Gion and Nishiki market. Room was a bit dark and it would have been great if it was a bit bigger too.

Comfortable, good location, nice to have 24 hour tea room

Good choice if you want a stylish, clean and quality oriented boutique hotel in the heart of Kyoto. Traditional japanese and modern thinking are blended together with great amount of good taste. Location is very good - quiet area but still close to Gion, Nishiki Market, Shijo Dori areas etc.. Walking distance to many attractions and public transport also.

Booked a queen suite but be warned they have interconnecting doors so you can hear your neighbours very clearly, and very little storage.
We had to leave this hotel after 2 hours after finding an infestation of insects/bugs that looked like large cockroaches in the room. Staff sprayed whilst we were still in the room leaving us coughing and didn’t have any spare rooms to offer us. We found alternative accommodation and Expedia were amazing at refunding us.
I would strongly advise not to book this hotel.

Wonderful hotel with spacious room and very friendly staff. However, the bed is on the firm side for me as it seems typical of most japanese hotels in my limited experience. Other than that, would definitely recommend.

First time in Kyoto, 3rd time in Japan. Hotel location was excellent. Easily walkable to Teramachi with eating and shopping options nearby. Easily accessible by taxi to many sites. A 15 minute taxi ride from Kyoto station. Super quiet location. The staff were exceptional. They were very kind and super helpful for everything, including bringing the bags to our room, extra blankets and water, laundry, and calling for taxis. They also let us know about an annual Kyoto festival parade happening during our stay, so we were able to attend that also which was nice.
The hotel has a small, quaint feel. We stayed in the smallest room with 2 twin beds due to booking only 4 weeks in advance and every other room type was taken. The only real downside to this hotel are the beds. I like a medium firm to firm bed myself and can also tolerate something a bit softer, but these beds were some of the hardest I've ever slept on and were very uncomfortable. If this hotel would soften up their mattresses a bit, I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone.
Staff were amazing - I had to say that again:)

New and clean property. Imperial palace and market place are walkable, along with a lot restaurants. Hotel had a Zen traditional vibe to it. Free tea room and laundry room. Would highly recommend!

We had an amazing experience staying here. 5 mins walk from the large market and very touristy area, and close to konbinis. The room was so cozy and clean, the staff was very professional.
One thing we were troubled with was other travelers. One group had occupied the laundry room for the night and had not considered to share with other travelers. The hotel tried to accommodate by offering the people waiting to wait on line but could not do much. Wish those travelers have considered to follow the local rules and basic Japanese values on sharing and being polite.

The rooms are pretty big compared to typical Japanese hotels. Staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Had traveled with a group of 10 people and they were able to help us transport our luggages to the next hotel. Staff spoke English

This property was beautiful! It's a small location with maybe 4 rooms per floor, the staff was very nice and greeted us every time. There was a nice hand written note in our room welcoming us when we arrived. We loved our room. Will definitely stay here again if we visit Kyoto in the future.

The hotel is located near all important sightseeing destinations. You can walk 10-20 minutes to see Kiyomizudera and Yasaka etc. Adding to that, YUMI san went above and beyond helping me out getting a taxi and talking to the driver that make sure I’ll get to my host family house with a correct address. It was an amazing experience with this hotel. Highly recommended!!!
