Winter Park Chateau

The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean and spacious. We booked it last minute and were delighted to get a good rate, and a room on the second level where we could walk directly from our parking space into the room without having to walk upstairs. The booking and check-in were done completely online. When there was a problem with the key code assigned to us, the manager promptly answered the phone and someone was on-sight immediately to resolve the issue.

We think it should be made clear on the website that the rooms are on three different levels and that there is no elevator. Since it is probably most commonly rented to skiers this should be no problem, however seniors who may not handle stairs well might have an issue. Also there is limited parking behind the chalet where one could just walk into their room from the parking space. All the rest of the parking is in front of the building and requires stairs to access their rooms.

The room was very clean, cozy, and comfortable. There was an electric fireplace, a nice room fan/humidifier set up, and an additiinal fan in a cabinet. The bed was so comfortable, as well as the pillows. I prefer soft pillows, and these were amazing. The bedding was also very soft and comfortable, and there were additional blankets if you needed them. There were also charging stations set up for phones and devices, so that was a very nice touch. The owner/host was so friendly, kind, welcoming, and helpful. We were traveling with our dog, and the back porch on our room was so nice to have to be able to take her outside to go potty.

From the description on Booking.com, the room was described as being much larger than it actually was. So walking in to a smaller room was unexpected. It was still a good room. The coffee pot in the room didn't work, so we let the owner know as we were checking out. The room was really warm, even with the evaporative fan running. The thermostat didn't seem to actually adjust the room temp, so it got warm and muggy overnight, even though it was actually a very cool evening and night.

The location was great. The public spaces were cozy and welcoming. John was so gracious and friendly.

It really is a nice property, clean, close to the festival we went to.

I’m sure it is perfect in the winter. I just wouldn’t recommend it as a place to stay in the summer. After being outside all day for the Jazz Festival no one wants to come to a hot room at the end of the day.
