La Grange d Ave

Absolutely delightful. A wonderful setting, nestled on the banks of the River Loire, we have driven along this route many times and it was a real treat to be able to stay here. You can walk direct from the property to the river bank (though you have to cross the road which can be quite busy at times - but the house is well shielded from it) and you can walk/cycle for a long way alongside the river. The old historic property is well preserved e.g. with traditional fabric coverings for the walls, but the en-suite is very modern and nicely done. It was great to share the communal kitchen and the lounge area with its enormous old fireplace. Very comfy bed and nice bed linen. A real delight.

We were up in the loft room, which was spacious and thankfully cool (we travelled when temperatures were in the high 20’s). The shower room was great and quite new. The breakfast was very good. À typical French selection of items and more than enough quantity.

We coped well as we were only there for a one night stay and had minimal luggage, but there is only an original spiral staircase up to the different floors and if you aren’t physically fit or have lots of large luggage, it would be a struggle.
