Very friendly staff. Nice restaurant with terrace for breakfast and lunch. The dinner ist served in the garden and a camp fire was litt. Very Cosy.
They organize community tours like cotton growing, crafts etc. as well as guided boat or jeep safari. Queen Elisabeth National Park ist right across the street.
Mobile phones can be charged at the restaurant. Therefore they start a generator. We arranged with other guests to avoid extra long run times. Rooms are lit Independent of the generator by solar and battery.
Daily changing choices of 4 dishes each day. Cooked and served with love.
If wished for, packed breakfast to take on your Safari ist available.
Nothing to complain about.

This is a wonderful project by and for the community of Kikorongo, and it is an inspiring experience to see how its tireless staff face every challenge without losing their smiles: No water or electricity mains and yet they have a beautiful garden and comfy rooms and tents; limited ingredients but tasty dishes every day...
I have sung with them, danced with them, walked with them, and thoroughly enjoyed the company and the lessons of one of kindest people I have met in my many travels.
Thank you so much Jason, Dennis, Kutafi, Felex, Lillian and Karen. In my heart forever!
Having to leave!

Very friendly staff, respecting individual wishes, spontaneous changing of the rooms, confirmation of the orders for dinner and breakfast, flexible organisation of the whole stay and activities. They even accompanied us on a tour and explained a lot.
Most of the money goes to support the local community, e.g. buying books for the school kids with the revenue of the guests.
They even made a fire in the garden for our last dinner.
After asking before the arrival, they confirmed that the bill can be paid using credit card, but that's not possible. The nearest ATM is ca. 25km far away.

I rarely write reviews but I have to write this one. The Elephant Home is more of a project and experience, I was a bit surprised at the beginning because there is no hot shower and no electricity and wifi the whole day but this actually made our stay even more perfect. I felt more present and realized how privileged I am. The staff is AMAZING. SO SO KIND AND HELPFUL. They helped us with everything and always made sure we had everything. The food was nice, sometimes maybe a bit too salty for my taste but as I said, I really appreciated what they were doing for us. I wish them all the best. We also did the vanilla tour and coffee tour - loved both.

- Nice Community based and Eco friendly accomodation
- Just across the highway its the National Park, you have nice views on the Savannah
- Big rooms, big beds, nice bathroom
- Options for breakfast and dinner are quite limited. You expect a little more, e.g. fruits or juice or anything fresh
- Electricity and WiFi only on demand
- No hot water
- There is nothing around, just a little center 1 km down the Road. So if you are not with your own vehicle, it will be difficult to find something like a restaurant or market

Good environment, helpful and nice staff who want to show you around local sites and answer questions if you need to know anything about the environment.
You can only charge your electrical equipment when they turn on the generator, the wifi also only works when they use the generator. The food is not great because they don't use a fridge. Go to the local market in Kasese to buy your own in fresh ingredients like a chicken.

I stayed for a week at the Elephant Home. It's easy to reach from the Kikorongo crossing and close to the national park and equator. The place is very beautiful with a nice garden, common area, restaurant and comfortable+clean rooms. The staff is very kind and competent. It's chef is cooking amazing food! Since the place is run by the community of Kikorongo village you have the chance to visit the village, farming and reforestation activities. They recently started recycling and composting in the village and have a mechanical workshop station for the youth of the village. I found the community's engagement amazing! Definitely the best place to stay around Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The food was amazing, and the staff incredible. The only shame is that there were no longer elephants around the property, as there is now an electric fence that has been built. But this is not the fault of the Elephant Home! Stay here- you will not regret it, and we had a wonderful night drinking and chatting around the campfire they set up for us :) They also provided large buckets of hot water for us to shower in ;)

My husband and I stayed at Elephant Home last week and would highly recommend it as a great base to explore Queen Elizabeth National Park and the surrounding local community. Profits from the hotel go directly into funding community projects which the staff is happy to share more information about. The community manager was a great resource in sharing information and we enjoyed both the vanilla farming tour as well as the Kazinga Channel boat cruise. The staff were all friendly and courteous, the food was delicious, and the location is just on the other side of QENP.

The staff was very friendly and the food delicious! You could really feel how the staff liked cooking nice food and liked taking care of the guests. They are cooperating with tour guides and the prices are comparably a bit lower than those I have seen on other webpages which was also the reason why I chose this accomodation. Even traveling alone, the tours, like a game drive through the QENP and the boat cruise was very affordable. The entry to the QENP is very close to the Elephant home. During my safari, I was seeing elephants, lions and leopards very close and it was a really impressing experience! The Elephant home is directly next to the national parc, but also on the main street going from Mbarara to Kassese. I traveled with public transport and it was very easy because you could just jump out of the taxi/bus at the Elephant home and for the bus to leave, the staff stopped the bus for me, so I could enter it. There is a self-guided walk through the nature with a really beautiful view above the QENP that I enjoyed a lot! The rooms are basic, clean and had a bathroom, but don't expect a typical safari cottage like other resorts have.

Loved the concept of a community-run accommodation. Service was top notch. Location is very close to Queen Elizabeth National Park (15 minute drive) and even saw some elephants on the side of the road close by.
Food options could be improved.

Big clean room, big bed with good solid mattress. Good insect screens on windows. Jason provides fabulous customer service! Flexible, helpful staff. Good food, excellent breakfast, From the restaurant you can almost see Lake George.
Location too close to major highway so you listen to traffic noise all night. Mosquito net too small for the big bed. There is a fan but what good does it do if there is electricity for just a couple of early evening hours? Hot and noisy... didn't sleep much. So many mosquitoes everywhere you practically have to lock yourself in the room around dusk. No view to speak of, just bush.

Good location in vicinity of park boundries. Easy to get there using local transport. Good place to stay if you are on budget. Nice room with bathroom. Good breakfast. They can arrange all trips like canal boat cruise for 25 $ and it's really worth the price. Nice staff.
They charge even for hot water for coffee. No drinking water in the room. Pricy food but you can find some rolex in nearby village. Limited WiFi so bring your own if you need it.
