The staff were very welcoming. The rooms are a good size, very comfortable and the bar/eating area is great, food is delicious. Will defo be staying here again.

Positives; Food was good value and well prepared for classic inn/pub food.
Hotel is warm & cosy and represents the eclectic charm of an old inn that customers have likely chosen with purpose.
Improvement areas: cleaning: large 1ft by 1ft cobweb in the corner of the room implied, along with other dirty/dusty surfaces, a lack of attention to detail on cleaning. Windows with broken latches left unfixed and other similar details create a bit of an unloved feel, albeit it is an old inn & some of this can be considered part of the charm.
Was also a bit of an awkward moment when because the till doesn't match the menu pricing that we were told to pay more that the menu price. It was less than a pound difference so not a big deal but it stuck us that the owner could easily resolve that with a note to the kitchen to avoid an awkward conversation.
Owner was a pleasant man to talk with though and clearly has a passion for the old inn so hopefully he'll get it ship shape soon enough

Just a one night stay for a Thursday night fixture, 5 minutes from train station.

Very comfortable stay and at a reasonable price. Rooms were very good and clean and the bed was comfortable. It was also nice and quiet. The bar was not well stocked and the service was rather erratic and slow. Dinner on the Sunday evening ended at 8pm and we were advised to order by 7pm so we ended up eating elsewhere. The breakfast however was very good.

Excellent friendly service, meals both morning and evening were enjoyable.

We had a great stay, lovely old building, staff were friendly and very welcoming. The only downside was they had ran out of a lot of food on the menu and our bath emptied as quick as it filled but would stay again.

Bedroom very small. Bathroom bigger than bedroom. Plenty of hot water, however the bath plug did not keep yhe water in!
Steps to bath room dangerous at night

Room was comfortable and clean, a little dated but this is an old building so expected. Have stayed here before and again we received good service.

Nothing more to say everything was excellent

Comfortable old English inn with good food and a comfortable bed. The bedrooms are a little tired but that’s to be expected from an old inn. Overall, we were pleased with our stay

Rooms were adequate but access awful.. if you have any mobility problems, and mine are only minor, navigating the narrow twisting staircase was bad with just a single overnight bag.God forbid if you hade a full set of luggage.
I'll look elsewhere if I'm in Stafford again

This place was cute and quaint. Friendly staff. Adorable property. Restaurant/bar attached was lovely. It was a small town but this place was very nice.

The person on reception was very helpful and I was so pleased that The Vine is close to the start of the Isabel Trail parkrun.

The staff were lovely although breakfast was served slightly later than we was told. The poor waiter was on his own so rushing around trying to serve everyone.
As for the room it was ok as we used it really just to sleep but it really needs updating. Also a bulb was out ( the lady did mention this ) not sure why they don’t have spare bulbs. The sofa bed was torn at the bottom and one of the bedside lights was hanging off the wall. Parking was rammed aswell.
If this was refurbished it could be a nice room.

Helpful friendly staff, On site parking very useful facility. Easy access to the town centre. Surprisingly comfortable and spacious room given the age of the building. The hotel could be awkward to access as the stairs are steep and narrow but that was not any problem for me.

Lovely old pub and hotel. Lots of character. Staff were lovely, responded to messages and friendly once there. Food was good. Our room was clean and spacious.

I rarely review anything but honestly i enjoyed the stay and figured they deserve a good review so here goes.
Pros: are the location of course ,center of town, pretty good food breakfast or dinner on site so if you want you can eat before you even leave each day, and it does exactly what any form of hotel should gave me a decent place to live for a short time while i was there with good staff in the end i plan on coming back and i would gladly stay here again when i do.
Cons: because yes there are just a couple i saw some other reviews of people complaining about the place being extremely old and yes it is however i would say it serves its purpose and is cared for still so it isnt a major issue.
The only real issue i had and people kind of should understand for sure is it is in the center of a city and above a pub so expect some drunk people and maybe rowdy or noisy folks also not even necessarily in the vine itself but around or coming and going so just be warned it may be an issue. The only issue for me personally was loud drunk people kept me awake one night otherwise not too bad but i don't blame the vine for this since it wasnt the customers from it just figured it was worth a warning to some people but if that doesn't bother you then i would fully reccomend it overall and will probably be back later on to stay.

Following a business trip, a good friend and I decided to overnight in Stag=fford for a regulat 'Boy's Night Out' catch-up. The Vine looked promising and was perfect for our needs. Friendly check-in and good barman (Jake) made us welcome and gave us a guide to the best visits in the town (all very walkable). Our rooms (I was given room 4 with a disabled access bathroom) were fine. My friend was in room 1 which was smaller but very acceptable. The rooms are in a block behind the main pub so were quiet and although we were ground floor, had no issues. We missed dinner there, having been delayed, but saw one man get the curry special which looked huge and delicious). Apparently it's also the best brekkie in Stafford but we had to leave very early and so the next door Costa delivered its usual fare. Stafford provided a fun night out for two old friends, and the Vine was incredibly central. I haven't rated it as excellent as hey, it's a little tired, but you know what, everything was what we needed for an incredibly good price. We have nothing to complain about, and everything to say - well done, to the team there.

The stay was OK. Nothing to rant or rave about. When I checked in I was allocated a room where there was a builder doing some remedial work so couldn’t stay there until a few hours later. There was an external temporary freezer out the back that made a continuous humming noise all night long. The TV had no sound either.

Fantastic great staff and service

The Vine is the oldest inn in Stafford so uneven walls and floors are to be expected. It would benefit from some updating however. I was in a warm, comfortable but slightly cramped room which was close to a noisy fire door, though I was not disturbed after 11pm. The free parking was very useful and the staff friendly. I felt safe there and would be happy to stay again.

Comfortable clean bed and bedroom. Bathroom was snug with ill fitting toilet seat, even though the toilet was clean it was very water stained.
Food was good and reasonable. Friendly staff.

The hotel is very old and has lots of character, that said it is also very dated. Had s pleasant 2 day work trip, but would likely choose somewhere else on my next visit

Excellent hotel, friendly and polite staff. And the food is… remarkable.

Minimal staff working when we arrived to check in, due to low staff we were advised to have a meal in the bar as the person who checks guests in was doing the meals in the kitchen which will close shortly due to staffing issues, so we opted to eat food first, then check in… the food was nice! Same issue with breakfast, very low staff! When we arrived back from our day out on the following day we were told the kitchen was closed so had to seek alternative restaurants for the rest of our stay. The room was comfortable and to the standard we would expect.
