Changed reservation on hotels.com to arrive a day earlier and the hotel was not notified by hotels.com. Location was great but room was small. Could also hear the conversations thru the walls. We kind of felt like we were staying in a college dorm :-)

When you book into the Colonial Houses, know what you are getting into. The buildings are lovely, but old. The rooms are not plush. The bathrooms are small. We were the only people in an entire building with many bedrooms, yet we were placed on the second floor. Why? You can’t beat the location, and Williamsburg is so lovely, but there are more comfortable rooms available.

Loved staying in the middle of Colonial Williamsburg, in an historic home!

Great place to stay to get colonial experience for 1 night. Too tiny for an extended stay

The Williamsburg Lodge has great facilities. We love the pool and the dining. You can walk to great shops and food too.

The pros- cool experience to stay in a colonial home, right in the colonial area. The main con- it was early January, and when I turned the heat on, the vent in the ceiling made a LOUD roaring sound, like a box fan on high. But even worse, it would then randomly fluctuation to a low whir, then to silence, then a whir, then a ROAR, then silence, then a ROAR, then a whir.... Since it was random, you could NOT get used to it. Just to sleep, we turned the heat OFF. Around 10 pm I called housekeeping and the man basically said, "it's an old system... nothing we can do." With a blanket it was ok, but had it been bitter cold outside, we would have had to choose between sleep or freezing!

The stay at the Williamsburg Inn Colonial houses was a great stay, so convenient to everything. Only complaint, the room was so warm, uncomfortable almost. The thermostat did not work. Should have called and complained but we didn’t. Prob could have been a quick fix. Oh well, still LOVED sour stay!!!!

I think the small room and all the stairs was the worst.

Extremely well decorated room right on the main street of historic Williamsburg, so everywhere is in walking distance. Parking right behind the building. Very satisfied.

It was fun to stay in the heart of CW. The room was attractive, though spare. The shower and drain didn't work properly and were not fixed in a timely manner due to the do not disturb sign we put on the door, not knowing that would mean the repairman would not enter EVEN THOUGH WE HAD REQUESTED SERVICE. Getting ready our first morning took far too long. What should we have done since we did not want housekeeping service but we did want the plumbing problem fixed. The bathroom should have been in better order.

The Colonial Houses was a perfect overnight spot for me. I was in town for a wedding, and I was able to walk everywhere and even though it was a quick trip, got in a bit of tourism as well! The staff at the Williamsburg Inn — where I checked in — were exceptionally professional.

Colonial house right on Duke of Gloucester. Had a front row seat to the nightly Fire and Drum procession from inside my hotel room!!!

Loved the entire experience. Right in colonial Williamsburg within walking distance of so many restaurants and attractions. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, and excellent accommodations. We’re looking forward to our return!

The Brick House Tavern is a very convenient location to Duke of Gloucester Street and Colonial Williamsburg. The room was very clean, small and simple. A true Colonial experience.

We were traveling through the area to visit Historic Jamestowne and thought Williamsburg looked like a nice place to stop for the night. I reserved what looked to be a cozy low-slanted roof room for two, with colonial style. At check-in I was told the room I had reserved had AC problems, so we would be “upgraded”. Nice. But what we got was a sprawling first floor of a cottage that had a lot of room with little comfort. The whole place had a musty/moldy smell, a deteriorating couch, and tiny uncomfortable bed in the one back bedroom. The place was clean, but that’s all I can find good to say. I felt we were thrown into the overflow cottage that hadn’t been used in some time. The whole place severely needs new furnishings (including the rotting blinds). After very little sleep, we were happy to turn in the pretentious key and drive away.

Living in history. Unit was a bit shabby

This was by far the most impressive resort experience I have ever had. And I have stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World. But this takes the cake. They went above and beyond anything I would have guessed. I had originally made reservations for a Tavern House room but the buildings AC went out before I arrived. So they upgraded our stay to the Inn. I was looking forward to the Tavern house experience but this provided it's own unique experience as well. The grounds are immaculate. The room and service made me feel like a princess. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and I had off handily mentioned it when checking in but never expected them to give us a little gift card and bottle of wine one afternoon in our room for a anniversary gift. They also provided a turn down service with chocolates and night caps both nights we stayed. We also enjoyed complimentary tickets to the attractions there at colonial Williamsburg such as the Governors mansion and art museum. Definitely a memorable experience that I will be forever grateful for having the opportunity to have and grateful to the employees of the Inn. Thank you for making our 25th amazing.

We enjoyed staying in one of the Colonial Houses it was a nice change from a typical hotel due to the history. Everyone was very friendly and professional.

The location of the Colonial Houses and the idea behind Colonial Williamsburg are awesome. However, the homes are in poor condition and are far too overpriced for the lodging provided. Our room was dirty and smelled like mildew. Didn’t have any lighting in the bathroom and no ventilation. We have stayed in renovated and historic housing before and were disappointed that the Colonial Houses didn’t match up to expectations.

The Colonial House hotel was absolutely charming. We stayed right on the Main Street. It was like being apart of Williamsburg. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Every Williamsburg building I entered, I was greeted with a warm friendly smile. I also thought I received a great price for my room. I would Definitely go back.

I only have one complaint. When we checked in we were not told how to use the key to access the Brick House Tavern. Turns out when we were checking out another couple had the same issue. Not very clear at check in.

great location

The property was little dated. The fact that the Colonial Houses was separate from the hotel was not ideal.
The beds in our room were small. We had a nice time, but would have preferred being in the hotel, which was booked when we made our reservations.

I thought we had booked a house, not a room in the tavern, so I was a little disappointed. The room itself is very small. It was fine for our purposes, and being on Duke of Gloucester was really convenient, but if we had stayed at a standard hotel we would’ve gotten some sort of continental breakfast, and it wasn’t great having to spend significantly more than we planned to cover breakfast (which we received no discounts on). It was really convenient, and while parking was tricky it largely was a really successful trip, and I would probably stay on site again if we came back.

The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Loved the original 1700s building of the Tavern House we stayed in…part of the Colonial Houses hotel (check-in is at Williamsburg Inn, a 2 minute walk away). They provide a courtesy car to drive you to the train station (20 min walk away). There’s also a concierge to help with scheduling activities, if needed. Would definitely stay at this charming place again!

Unique option in historic Williamsburg, especially so when both my daughter and I had encounters with otherworldly visitors in separate times. After googling the specific home and room assignment we learned that this was a very common experience. Despite this we both slept well on a very comfortable bed & would recommend this to anyone looking for a special “only in Williamsburg” experience

The room was comfortable and very clean! Right in the historic village. Ghost tour was awesome as was our meal at Christiana Campbell’s Tavern.
If booking through hotels.com, verify weather the museum’s entrance charge is included, some confusion about that!

We are a nice stay at the Colonial Houses - the Brick House Tavern. My husband and I stayed there for a weekend. It really feels like you went back in time. You are right in the middle of everything in Colonial Williamsburg and also right by the bus stop. We did a ghost tour and it was a 5 min walk to the meet up spot. The only reason I’m giving this a 4/5 is because the bed was not that comfortable. It was very springy. Other than that, everything was perfect.
4.0
We stayed in the Brick House Tavern property in the historic area of Williamsburg. While it was very convenient to a great many things, there was a lack of privacy due to thin walls and doors allowing noise. Also, the curtains in the bathroom appeared not to have been cleaned for some time and the bathroom layout left the clean towels hanging directly above and touching the toilet pipes.

Centrally located to Colonial Williamsburg. Everything was within walking distance.
