This was a very cute property that was spotless and well-maintained--the decor was charming. It's evident that the owners care about making visitors' stay pleasant. The kitchen was really well stocked, which let us stay in and enjoy a few family dinners together. We especially enjoyed having a bonfire under the stars and the wood-burning fireplace. The area was peaceful and quiet, but convenient to Sugar Mountain and Hawksnest.

We loved everything about this adorable cabin. Close to Boone, Blowing Rock & so many streams/rivers for flyfishing. Beautiful setting off the screened porch(overlooks a pond & woods). Deidre and Brian are wonderful hosts & we would recommend this cabin!

We loved our stay at the Rocky Roost with an out of state couple. The location is perfect - less than 10 minutes to Grandfather Vineyard, 15 minutes to Sugar Mountain, 25 minutes to Banner Elk winery, and less than 30 to Boone or Blowing Rock. The home is perfect for both families and couples. Each floor essentially has a bedroom and a bathroom which was very private and convenient. Loft would be perfect for a group of kids - could easily have two couples and a big group of kids or 3 couples. Kitchen has everything you need. Wood burning fireplace in the living room was great for morning coffee, as was the full screened in porch with another dining room set. Walking up and down the roads in the area made for a great workout! Hot tub was great for ending each day after a fire. We spent significant evening hours playing pool as well. With everything turned on, we never even turned on any of the televisions. New owners spent significant effort cleaning and I know they have future plans to upgrade a few items, but it was more than what we expected in the current condition and I would recommend for anyone.

Other than a few miscommunication about the AC working we had a wonderful stay. The Rocky Roost was great! Even with the rain we still enjoyed walking to the ponds close by and driving to Grandfather. We only stayed one weekend but would love to book again with more time to adventure.

My wife an I enjoyed the home and community, got in some hiking, shot some pool and relaxed in hot tub. The home was just as described in the listing. Thank you for sharing your home.

Last time we stayed was Oct 2020 and it was just me and my husband. This time we stayed April 2022 with our two kids. There were a few things I noticed or experienced this time, maybe because we were here in the off season, that might need to be addressed or checked out by the owners. Pros: The beds are comfortable. The pool table is great. The hot tub was nice after a long day of hiking. The area is really quiet. Even though there are other cabins close by you still feel very secluded. It snowed our first night there, just a dusting but still pretty. Cons: The owner sent me a message the day of our check in saying she had a lot going on that weekend and may not be very available or able to get back to me quickly if needed, which was fine. But she didn’t send me the door code. I had to send several texts and call a few times while sitting in the driveway before I was able to get in touch with her. Based on other reviews I don’t think this is typical but it was slightly stressful after driving 3 hours and then getting there and not knowing when we would be able to get in the house, especially since it was cold and snowing. The remote control in the main level bedroom either doesn’t work at all or the batteries were dead. We could turn the TV on by using the TV power button but there was no way to change the channels without the remote. We tried switching the batteries out with one of the other remotes but it still didn’t work so we couldn’t use that TV. The WiFi is really weak. My husband had to do some work but the WiFi wouldn’t even show up on his laptop. He ended up having to use his phone as a hotspot. And I found it easier to turn the WiFi off in order to look something up. There are some outlets that seem to only half work or are so loose they won’t even hold a plug. One in the basement looks like it sparked at some point because it looks burnt. There is some kind of thorny bush right next to the driveway that really needs to be cut back. If you’re exiting the car on that side you really have to avoid getting snagged. Overall this cabin is comfortable and the listing is accurate in its description.
