Hotel Las Casas de la Judería

The hotel exceeded our expectations. The conversion of the existing grand houses into a single hotel was well done. The roof top pool was surprisingly large. The staff were very helpful and responsive to any need. We asked where to find a good pizza and one of the staff walked us down the street to the restaurant. Our room was gave us enough space for a 10 day stay. Wonderful large shower stall as well as a separate jacuzzi tub.

As the hotel is located in the old city centre, driving a rental car to the hotel is a real challenge. We did it first try but we have had lots of experience driving in Europe and still found it a challenge. The breakfast rooms were crowded and very noisy. There are located in the cellar level and have lower ceilings and stone walls so this is not surprising.

The rooftop pool and bar was great as well as the evening piano player. Every interaction we had with staff was excellent as well.

It was not a problem for us, but walking through the tunnel system and some stairs that could not be averted via elevator could be a challenge for some. I presume you could ask for a room that does not require any stairs.

The location is excellent and the reception staff are very friendly and attentive. The buildings at Las Casas de la Judería have an authentic, traditional character, and everything is exceptionally well-maintained, clean and inviting.

Unfortunately, the room that was assigned to us late in the evening bore little resemblance to the type of room shown in the photos when we made the booking. While the images showed charming, traditionally decorated rooms, some with views or even balconies, we were given a small room on the ground floor in the furthest courtyard. The windows faced both the front and rear, resulting in noise and light disturbance throughout the night. Realistically, there was no opportunity to request an alternative room at 11 p.m. It seemed as though the hotel's unique atmosphere and more attractive accommodation were reserved for higher-priced categories. This is disappointing, as guests booking standard rooms should also receive an experience that reflects the character and quality presented in the marketing materials. A more transparent room presentation and allocation policy would greatly improve the guest experience.
