Perfect home for a three-generation family vacation. Very well maintained property with gorgeous views of the sound and a very easy walk to the beach. Plenty of room for 10 people without feeling overcrowded. The management company was very responsive when we called them. Everyone had a great time!

House was exactly as advertised, close walk to the beach. The house was dirty upon arrival, and we had ants (the property manager did have it sprayed while we were there).

The layout of this property was exactly what our family needed. It was close to everything including the beach, the sound side and the grocery. The whole family agreed that this vacation was going to be a relaxing one, and this house and location truly allowed for that. The house was also nicely cleaned compared to other homes we have rented before. The only issue we had was the upstairs air conditioner was not working properly. However we contacted property management and they worked with the owners. By the next day a new air conditioner had been installed and was working great. Before the new air conditioner was installed the property management company even brought window air conditioners over to help in the meantime. We had no other issues for the rest of the week and really appreciated the prompt response to the air-conditioning issue. We look forward to booking another family vacation at this property again soon.

Our week in the Outer Banks was perfect! This house was exactly what we needed for our family vacation, with enough bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone to have their own space. I'm thankful that we read about the boardwalk and knew that the walk to the beach was easy and short. The kitchen in the house had everything we needed, the pool was awesome, all of the electronics worked and were easy to use. I wish we had cushions for the wooden chairs at the pool - but it wasn't a deal breaker! Overall it was the best vacation and a great value!

We had some difficulty actually getting into the property when we first arrived, but when that was resolved, all else was just about perfect. Beach Break had plenty of room for all of us (2 teens, an 8 year old, their parents, and us—the grandparents). I was glad to have read in another review about the shortcut to the beach—the boardwalk made it easy to wheel our cart of beach equipment (chairs, tent, toys, etc,), with only a short span where we needed to carry everything up and over the dunes via a stairway. The beach itself is stunning and sparsely populated. The house contained everything we needed and more. We like to cook, and found all the equipment we needed (except for a pie pan, which I had brought along just in case). Beds were very comfortable—something we’ve found not to be the case in some other vacation rentals. The children couldn’t get enough of the pool, and their hours there gave the adults a great vantage point from which to relax on one of the decks. One improvement to suggest, though—the outdoor charcoal grill is small, and no5 well-suited to preparing meals for more than a few people at a time. Since most of the meals we’d planned on involved grilling, dinner prep took a considerable time (not fun cooking chicken, fish, or steak in batches and keeping food warm while successive batches were on the grill). A larger charcoal grill or gas grill would be a great addition. We’d never before stayed in Avon, and welcomed the proximity of a large grocery, a pharmacy, and—best of all from the children’s’ perspective—a branch of Duck Donuts. The overall feel of the area is peaceful and remote, however. Within minutes, we could be at the Hatteras lighthouse or mini-golf in nearby Frisco. Overall, hard to imagine a better rental property for a terrific “beach break.”

Overall the house is lovely and exceeded expectations. I would give it a million stars save two things--two very annoying things. Upon arrival the instructions printed on the door said to enter our 4 digit code. The code we were give was 6 digits. Shore Details is not open on the weekends so I had to call the after hours emergency line. While I was on hold, my husband was trying all the doors and one was unlocked so we got in. Who knows how long it would have taken to get in otherwise! While climbing the stairs, I heard a horrible mechanical noise. Turned out to be the refrigerator. It was really, really loud and the first thing we noticed as we entered the house. We tried a few, things like turning off the ice maker, but it was unrelenting. Since Shore Details is not open on the weekend, we waited until Monday. I was counting down the hours because it was so annoying. When I was cooking, I could not be a part of any conversation because I couldn't hear. You could hear it in the King Suite upstairs and the bunk suite downstairs. I called Shore Details first thing Monday morning. When I mentioned the refrigerator, the woman immediately said, "oh, you must be calling from Beach Break". She reported that the owner was aware of the noise but refused to fix or replace the refrigerator because it was working. I explained how very, very vacation ruiningly unpleasant it was and she said that she would try to contact the owner but he would likely do nothing. Since there is a refrigerator in the basement, I inquired if the two refrigerators could be switched in location. She said she doubted the owner would agree to that. I tried my very best to enjoy all the other wonderful things the house had to offer but always in the background was the "RRRRRRRRRR" from the refrigerator. The pool area was lovely. I paid for pool heat and was not disappointed. The walk to the beach was easy and also lovely. The beach was amazing and not crowded. I loved the outdoor showers when coming home from the beach. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. Luxury. But at the end of the day, the owner's unwillingness to replace or repair the refrigerator spoiled my experience.

We enjoyed our stay at beach break. It was extremely clean minus a moldy shower curtain liner in the master bathroom and some ants in the kitchen (unavoidable in this area). The pool was fantastic and it was lovely that each bedroom had its own bathroom. The walk to beach was easy and quick. The only downside to staying was the communication with the property manager and the home owner. Upon our arrival we realized that the refrigerator was making an EXTREMELY loud noise whenever the fan turned on and that the back door lock on the bottom floor was broken. When we contacted the management, they arranged for a worker to come the next day. He fixed the lock but told us that the owner refused to fix or replace the fridge. After calling again the next day, the management company informed us of this same information. The owner refused to spend money on this because he plans to update the kitchen in the fall. They promised to reach out to him again as the noise made it impossible to converse with people more than 5 feet away. We never received another correspondence from them despite another phone call and email. This did not make our stay especially terrible but was an inconvenience and it was frustrating to know the owner was aware and just refused to do anything. I’d imagine anyone reading this review will not deal with the fridge if he truly does plan to remodel the kitchen this fall.

We come often to OBX and have stayed at different houses. We loved how it was just a quick walk to the beach!

Thank you, thank you! This gorgeous house was just what we needed after being stuck at home for over a year due to the pandemic. The house was absolutely perfect! Spacious, clean and bright and on a quiet, dead end street with a boardwalk leading right to the beach (a mere 3 minute walk!). The home was conveniently located close to the grocery store and to restaurants and shops. The pool was a little slice of paradise (it was worth every penny to pay for the pool heat) as was the hot tub. We also loved the pool table! The beds were comfortable and there was great water pressure in the showers. The best part... the view of the sunset over the sound... words cannot even begin to describe it! Also, everything felt very clean and safe from a COVID standpoint. We loved all of the decks and porches! We will absolutely be back and would recommend this place in a heartbeat!

My family and I had a wonderful experience. This house has all the amenities that a group could ask for and is located in a perfect location. We especially loved being away from all the tourist hot spots. Great family get away!
