The room is comfortable and the restaurant is beautiful.

Some staff members were excellent, while others—like the first employee who received us—were not; however, the second person we spoke with was very pleasant. There was a mix of unfriendly and pleasant staff. Housekeeping service was poor and left much to be desired.

The Pods are great fun. You know they will be small and the facilities in them limited but the view is great, they are cosy rather than cramped and the novelty of waking in a Pod overlooking Skye is highly enjoyable. The main building is really well designed and beautifully built. The bar area is a superb place for a couple of night caps and the restaurant is equally as good, for both breakfast and dinner. We didn't try the sauna but next time perhaps we will.

The cabin was lovely. Quiet. With a beautiful view in the distance (see below for further details). It had aircon/heating so the temperature could be adjusted to our liking. Powerful shower. The main building was really quiet pleasant and fitted in with the idea of the place blending in with the habit it is surrounded by. The restaurant and bar area are well designed and serve great cocktails and food.

Unfortunately this place just misses the mark in quite a few areas. For the price we paid, £1160 for 2 nights, it should have been excellence personified. Firstly the entrance is not well signposted and easily missed: just a small A5 sign. This lack of signage continues in the hotel grounds. We were shown a map on arrival but not given one to take. Sadly there are 2 signposts on the paths at the bottom and then nothing more to direct you on the many winding paths up the hill. This meant we took 2 wrong turns to get to our cabin, on both the days we stayed. Even a staff member passed us in his buggy twice on the way up telling us he'd "taken a wrong turn". Small sign posts on the paths would be so, so helpful. The carpark is not lined for parking places and so people park anywhere and everywhere. This showed to be a major problem the day we were leaving when a couple had tried to manoeuvre their car out of their space and literally got stuck between the cars either side (whilst bumping into them). They had to ask staff to get the other drivers from their cabins to move them. On arrival the receptionist asked us 'if' we wanted a golf buggy to take up the luggage to the cabin (they won't take guests on them due to H&S). But it shouldn't be 'if' it's an absolute 'must', especially if you are in the top row (we were cabin 32 in Storr). We are fit people and found ourselves completely out of breath at the top - without lugging our baggage too. On the way down to dinner we passed a couple who had chosen not to use the buggy...there were serious regrets and a possible divorce on the horizon judging by the way she was speaking to him whilst dragging her wheeled suitcase 500m uphill on pebbles.
