The property is absolutely gorgeous and the rooms are incredible. We booked a suite with a private onsen which was amazing. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The suite was clean and in general this Ryokan made our stay in Japan an incredible experience. The kaiseki dinners were absolutely incredible. The location of the Ryokan is quite secluded but it’s also a lovely 15-minute walk to the center of the town where all the shops are. If we needed to go somewhere a bit further out we would get a taxi or walk to the bus station and get the bus.

The kaiseki breakfast is very acquired taste. As travellers we are super open to new experiences and flavours and we tried everything and everything was delicious. But eating fishy and umami flavours early in the morning is not for the faint of hearted. We were incredibly grateful to have experienced the traditional Japanese breakfasts but if other travellers are not super into this kind of cuisine there are shops nearby that you can get coffee and other types of breakfasts if you want to.

Peace and serenity, very traditionally styled rooms with tatami mats, shoji screens and very comfortable futons. Loved the private onsen with hot spring water. The food was exceptional and we had multi coursed very traditional but modern dinners and breakfasts prepared for you by very talented chefs. We were there for 2 days and the food changed totally on both days and was based around autumn. You eat in small private dining rooms and, as there are only 9 rooms at the ryokan, really add to the feeling of peace. A member of staff also comes to collect you from your rooms when dinner is ready and takes you back after dinner is over. You also wear yukata’s and tabi socks for around your suite of rooms and for the restaurant for dinner and breakfast.
